(Feb. 16, 2010) - Just a day after the AA Dulles District meet, area gymnasts were back in action at Monday's A/AA state qualifier with 15 girls from Loudoun qualifying for this weekend's VHSL open state meet at Osbourn Park High School.
Broad Run High School senior Drea Ewen, who won the district All-Around on Sunday, repeated with a win in the All-Around Monday with a 36.00 including a win on the bars (9.450). Loudoun County's Jessica Drews was second in the All-Around with a 35.550 including a win on the beam (9.150).
Allie Daczkowski of Potomac Falls was impressive with a third in the All-Around (35.400) including wins in the vault (9.300) and on the floor (9.350). The fourth and final qualifier for Saturday's All-Around was Alexis Chaet of Freedom with a 34.925.
Besides the four all-around athletes, 11 other girls from the Dulles District, including at least one from each district school, qualified for the state meet by finishing in the top eight in an event.
