PF coach Lynn Ewald's Take: A tremendous effort by the seniors who could have been playing their last game. Down 12-0 after the first quarter and down 10 after the 3rd, my girls outscored the tigers 24-12 and won by two.
Great offensive games by Raven Short with 22 and Symone' Berry with 16. The story of the night was the great defense and incredible intensity the Panthers showed in the second half. Jenae Reid, Andie Stanley and Alysssa Battle had a great game defending the guards for Brentsville. Jasmin Jefferies did a great job protecting the middle and cleaning the glass with ten total rebounds.
The win continues the season and gives these seniors the first regional win in school history. After securing the lead late in the 4th, some clutch free throw shooting and stout defense secured the win. Battle had a huge steal late in the game and two free throws from Stanley (her first two free throws of the season) pushed the lead to
five with three seconds to play.
Keyla Baltimore for Brentsville hit a halfcourt 3-pointer at the buzzer for the final score, making all the free throws hit even more important. We'll play the number one seed Liberty on Thursday night at 6 p.m. in Bealeton.
