Girls Lacrosse: Foxcroft Beats Highland to Advance to State Title Game

Middleburg (May 17, 2013) - Senior captain Carter Ware scored with 3:43 remaining and a rock-hard defense allowed just one goal in the second half Friday morning to lead Foxcroft to a 7-6 victory over Highland School at Collegiate School in Richmond and a berth in the VISAA State Lacrosse Final for the first time in school history.

Foxcroft, the No. 2 seed in Division II, will play for the championship Friday at 11 a.m. against top-seeded Covenant School (Charlottesville). The game will be video-streamed live on VISAA.TV.

Girls Basketball: Leesburg's Pipsy Steyn Named Foxcroft Athlete of the Week

Middleburg (Jan. 22, 2013) - Foxcroft School’s JV basketball team made its long-awaited debut Saturday at the Fourth Annual Think Pink Tournament and freshman Pipsy Steyn emerged as the squad’s key player to earn Foxcroft Athlete of the Week honors for the period ending January 12.

A native of South Africa, Pipsy is the daughter of Collin and Corinne Steyn of Leesburg, VA.

Cross Country: Foxcroft JR Edgemond Earns All-State Honors

(Dec. 30, 2012) - Foxcroft School's Amy Edgemond, who had never run competitively before this fall, finished 18th at the VISAA Cross-Country Championships last month to earn All-State honors. Edgemond, a junior from Reston, is believed to be the first Foxcroft athlete to ever be named All State in cross country.

Middleburg (Dec. 30, 2012) - Eight Foxcroft athletes from three sports have received All-Delaney Athletic Conference honors for their outstanding performance in fall competition.

Field hockey topped the list as five members of the state tournament finalist Foxcroft team received first-team All-DAC honors and another player received second-team mention.

Volleyball and cross country each had one athlete selected for all-DAC honors.

(Nov. 13, 2012) - It was all new territory for Foxcroft School athletics and the members of the varsity field hockey team made the most of it. No Foxcroft team -- in any sport -- had ever made it to a state championship game. No field hockey team had ever advanced to the semifinals of the state tournament, or hosted a first-round game, for that matter. And a weekend at Virginia Beach, playing at the National Training Center?

Forgetaboutit.

The 2012 squad, led by senior captains Caroline Fout and Carter Ware, both of Middleburg, and guided by coaches Michelle Woodruff and Jessi Coil, did all that and more. Ranked second among VISAA Division II teams most of the season, Foxcroft rolled past Norfolk Christian, 3-0, at Foxcroft in the first round of the state tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 6, to earn a trip to the “Final Four” at Virginia Beach.

In Virginia Beach last weekend, Foxcroft edged Hampton Roads, 2-1, Friday for the School’s first state semifinal victory ever and then fell to Delaney Athletic Conference nemesis Fredericksburg Academy, 3-0, Saturday in the championship game. Despite the loss, the players and School all celebrated.

Foxcroft School: Field Hockey and Tennis Both Advance to State Semifinals

(Nov. 7, 2012) - Foxcroft School's field hockey and tennis teams BOTH advanced to the semifinals of the Virginia Independent School Athletic Association Division II Tournament Tuesday with comfortable victories in their first-round matches. Neither team had won a state match in at least seven years.

Girls Volleyball: Howard Named Foxcroft School's Athlete of the Week

Middleburg (Nov. 6, 2012) - Faith Howard, whose leadership has proved instrumental in the junior varsity volleyball’s improvement, has been named Foxcroft School's Athlete of the Week for the period ending October 20.

Howard, a junior co-captain who transferred to Foxcroft this year, has demonstrated a strong serve and quick reactions in transforming the JV’s defense. She was recently made the team’s “libero,” a defensive specialist who is a free substitute in the back row.

Girls Tennis: Foxcroft's Kelly Buckland is School's Athlete of the Week

Middleburg (Sept. 27, 2012) - Junior Kelly Buckland, whose inspirational play has sparked Foxcroft School to two victories on the tennis court so far this season, has been named the school's Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sept. 22.

Buckland, a transfer from Saint Stephen’s Saint Agnes, is the team’s No. 3 singles player and teams with Amalia Simpson as the No. 1 doubles pairing. Kelly won her singles match and also was a winner in doubles when Foxcroft beat Wakefield on Sept. 21.

 “Kelly has shown a lot of determination and grit so far this season,” Coach Kate Barston said. “She made a comeback in our match against Highland (a 9-7 victory on Sept. 14) and continues to be a steady force for the Foxcroft team. Her consistent passion and willing to do whatever it takes is what puts her above her opponents.”

Middleburg (May 14, 2012) - The Foxcroft School will host its first ever state tournament girls lacrosse game Tuesday as 4th-ranked in the state Foxcroft hosts Fredericksburg Academy in the first round of the Virginia Independent School Athletic Asociation Division II playoffs.

Girls Lacrosse: FR Emma Rogers Scores 10 Goals in 2 Games, Named Foxcroft Athlete of the Week

Middleburg (April 16, 2012 — Freshman Emma Rogers, who scored 10 goals in two lacrosse victories, was named Foxcroft School’s Athlete of the Week for the period ending April 7, Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff announced.

The Reston resident tallied five goals, added two assists, and had two ground balls in a 17-2 rout of Wakefield School (The Plains, VA) on March 29. She had five more goals and two ground balls in a 10-7 victory over archrival Highland School (Warrenton, VA) on April 2. Her 12 points and 10 goals lead the team.
