1, Tuscarora .627 (opponents record 74-44)
2, Broad Run .591 (68-47)
3, Briar Woods .579 (66-48)
4, Stone Bridge .537 (58-50)
5, Freedom .518 (58-54)
6, Park View .482 (54-58)
7, Loudoun County .472 (53-59)
8, Woodgrove .468 (52-59)
9, Champe .426 (46-62)
10, Potomac Falls .417 (45-63)
11, Heritage .411 (44-63)
12, Loudoun Valley .377 (40-66)
13, Dominion .371 (39-66)

Congratulations to Dominion! 2013 State Champs based on 2012 opponent Records!! Sorry Tusky but you look to be going 0-10! Get a Pulitzer ready with The Fox's name on it for this type of reporting!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like VHSL "Dead Week" has somebody in a cranky mood! We publish the strength of schedule every year ... just the facts! Most schools are locked into their districts schedule so have no control (ie: if Briar Woods at 15-0 in on your schedule your strength goes up and just the opposite for Dulles teams that have both Champe and Park View which went winless last year) but you do get a glimpse at non-district scheduling. Tuscarora rises to the top mostly due to scheduling a tough Martinsburg WV squad. If we do win a Pulitzer, we are dedicating our acceptance speech to all the anonymous posters of the world! Just teasing ... keep checking us out, even if you are in a cranky mood! Dan
ReplyDeleteI would say by Stone Bridge playing Lake Braddock and Westfield that would put them in front of THS, unless playing Thomas Jefferson Science and Technology automatically takes them out of the running..... Gotta feel for Freedom having the 5th hardest SOS... They are like the Chicago Cubs "there's always next year" ... Unless all their players get hurt playing this year
DeleteThere only one team that needs to be talked about this year and that's the Wolverines from P-Ville!! Coach Mike "The Pope" Skinner (Living Legend!) is gonna have our boys READY!!! We gettin the 'Ol Gang back together (WAR EAGLE ;)) and gonna wreck shop
ReplyDeleteIt is misleading to go strictly on last year's win loss record. For example, when you see Broad Run's opponents winning %, the schedule looks tough, but when you look at the teams they are playing, five (yes, five) of their games are against 4A schools when they are, in fact 5A. That shouldn't even be allowed. True that you have no control over your district schedule, but Stone Bridge scheduled (by far) the toughest non-district schedule with Lake Braddock, Westfield and Broad Run. Now, one more question. How in the heck did a Stone Bridge-Briar Woods game not get scheduled? Two guesses who backed out there.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to BR, it looks like THS is playing 4 games against fellow 5A teams, 4 Games against 4A Teams and 2 games against 3A teams. JC & LV are playing against just as many 3A teams as THS. How did that happen? I think Strenght of Schedule is certainly overstated on THS.
DeleteYes, THS's schedule is definitely not as tough as advertised, but thiers is a little more respectable than most others. True, Kettle Run is a 3A team but they have won the past two regional championships and will be a tough game for THS. They also scheduled Martinsburg, WV, who has won the past three state titles at the state's highest enrollment level, not to mention their game with Loudoun County, which is a rivalry game and always a tough one. The only tough non-district game Broad Run scheduled is Stone Bridge. After that their next toughest are against "ok" 4A teams Liberty and Woodgrove.
DeleteMy understanding on Northern Region teams (Stone Bridge is still under this umbrella) that they were required to schedule 2 of 3 non-district from within the Northern Region ... kind of strange since Northern Region is no longer with new format but I think they agreed in advance to keep to that as a lot of these schedules are done way in advance ...
