Football: Prime Time! NFL 2013 Schedule Features Washington in 5 Prime-Time Games

Ashburn (April 18, 2013) – The National Football League announced its 2013 regular season schedule tonight, and the Washington Redskins’ schedule features a team-record five national television appearances beginning at 7:10 p.m. ET on Monday, Sept. 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. The five prime-time games snap the Redskins’ previous team record of four, previously set in six seasons including most recently in 2008.

Spring Playoff Schedule: May 30

(May 30, 2012) - Six AAA schools play state tournament spots tonight with Freedom High School baseball and boys soccer hosting Northwest Region semifinals and Broad Run softball hosting a Northwest semifinal as well. All three contests start at 6 p.m.

Stone Bridge and Broad Run girls soccer, along with Stone Bridge softball, are on the road in their quest to clinch regional title and state tournament spots.

In AA, 11 teams are in Region II quarterfinal action, all left over from Tuesday's stormy weather. Potomac Falls baseball, Briar Woods boys soccer as well as Woodgrove girls soccer and softball all host contests.

Tonight's Playoff Schedule: For Some it Will Seem Like Old Times!

(May 29, 2012) - A total of 17 Dulles District teams are in high school regional playoff action tonight and for some the match-up's will seem quite familiar as there is a baseball, softball, boys soccer, girls soccer and boys lacrosse game featuring two Dulles teams facing each other.

In the AA Northern Section boys lacrosse final, Dominion hosts Woodgrove in a rematch of the Dulles District tournament semifinal won by the host Titans, 9-8. In the regular season Dominion (13-6) edged the Wolverines (14-4) in another one-goal game, 11-10.

In the Region II baseball quarterfinals, Dulles District regular-season champion Potomac Falls (20-3) faces upset-minded Heritage (12-12) for the fourth time on the season with the Panthers winning 5-3 and 3-1 in the regular season and 8-1 in the district semifinals.

In the Region II softball quarterfinals, for the second year in a row, Loudoun County (17-7) finds itself at Woodgrove (21-2). The Wolverine, the Dulles regular-season and tournament champions, beat County 11-1 and 1-0 this season.

In the Region II boys soccer quarterfinals, Park View (10-8-1) finds itself playing Dulles District regular-season champion Briar Woods (16-2-2) for the fourth time this year with the Falcons winning 3-0 and 1-0 in the regular season and 4-1 in the district semifinals.

In the Region II girls soccer quarterfinals, the season for either Briar Woods or Woodgrove will end the way it started playing each other. The two teams tied 0-0 in the season opener but it has been all Woodgrove since as the Dulles regular-season and tournament champion Wolverines (18-0-1) have won 18 straight, including a 1-0 win over the Falcons (10-5-5) in the regular-season and a 3-2 win in the district semifinals.

(May 28, 2012) - A total of 32 playoff games are on the schedule for today in Region II, Northern Region, Northwest Region baseball, softball and soccer playoffs. 10 Loudoun teams are on the road and four are at home today including Broad Run softball at 4 p.m., Freedom boys soccer at 5 p.m., Freedom baseball at 6 p.m. and Freedom girls soccer at 6:45.

Stone Bridge baseball and softball are on the road in Northern Region quarterfinals and eight Dulles teams are opening first round Region II play at Evergreen, Jefferson and Northwestern district foes.

NFL: Thanksgiving Game Against Cowboys Highlights Redskins' 2012 Schedule

Football: 2011 Schedule Features Marquee Non-District Match-ups and Rivalry Meetings

(July 25, 2011) - The 2011 high school football schedule for Loudoun's 12 teams features some marquee football match-ups including a much anticipated Broad Run vs. Stone Bridge showdown in Ashburn on Sept. 23.

Things heat up quickly as Broad Run, which moved up to the AAA Cedar Run District this year, hosts Park View on Aug. 25 in one of the county's oldest rivalries and then travels to Briar Woods the next week in a rematch of last year's Region II Division 4 finals.

Loudoun Valley and Heritage's return to the Dulles District returns Loudoun's oldest rivalry to the football field as Loudoun County hosts Valley on Sept. 23 in a start-up of a series that ran from 1962 until stopping several years ago.

The Dulles District, with nine teams, ends its regular season on Nov. 4 with several rivalry games including Woodgrove hosting Valley in Purcellville, Heritage at Tuscarora and Dominion at Potomac Falls.

Big Friday as Playoffs Go Into High Gear - Most Dulles District Teams Faced with "Win or Go Home" Contests

(May 20, 2011) - Playoffs have been going on for a week but things kick into high gear tonight as the Dulles District baseball, softball and soccer quarterfinals open. With the district receiving four Region II bids this year for the first time, the quarterfinal contests are essentially for regional tournament spots if the top seed is able to advance.

In the Liberty District, Stone Bridge boys and girls soccer shoots for district tournament titles at McLean in a doubleheader starting at 6 p.m. with the boys. The Bulldogs softball team is also in semifinal action at McLean. All three teams will advance to the Northern Region tournament as will top-seeded Bulldog baseball.

The Cedar Run District is still trying to squeeze in the final regular-season contests and the Broad Run girls soccer team will host Dominion tonight in a game suspended last night by lightning. The game is not important for district tournament purposes but does have meaning for Region II seeding for regular-season champion Broad Run. The Spartans and Titans have had their district quarterfinal contests bumped to Saturday.

The Skinny: In the first meeting this year between these two teams, Heritage jumped out 14-0 only to have LV fight back and take a 17-14 midway through the final quarter. The Pride then won on a 47-yard TD pass from Austin Nelson to David McCarthy with just 2:12 left. It was Austin's third TD toss of the game

Broad Run at Potomac Falls, 7:30
The Skinny: The Panthers had enough resources to beat Freedom last week but figure to have problems stopping Broad Run's quest for a third consecutive undefeated regular season. How much can T.J. Peeler add to his Metro Area leading rushing totals?

Park View at Dominion, 7:30
The Skinny: Two weeks ago it was Dominion losing a tough game to Loudoun County and Park View rolling over Potomac Falls but then last week, the Patriots fell flat against Briar Woods while the Titans pulled off one of the biggest wins in school history, a victory over AAA South Lakes. In terms of the Division 3 playoffs, Dominion needs the W more than Park View but the Pats might have to hit the road in the playoffs if they don't start winning.

The Skinny: The Raiders are for sure beat up and bruised after a physical game on Sat. with Broad Run but LC has plenty left in the tank to take on the struggling Eagles.

The Skinny: In the preseason, SB coach Mickey Thompson said that 2009 would be a lot like 2005 when almost every Bulldog game was a nailbiter and last week, sure enough, SB blocked a FG in the final seconds to beat Langley, 17-14. Madison's win over SB two weeks ago gives every district opponent hope so expect the Highlanders to fling everything short of Sir William Wallace at Stone Bridge Friday
