Softball: Stone Bridge Seniors Niki Prince and Kelly McDaniel Pick up Liberty District Player and Pitcher of the Year Honors

(May 16, 2013) - Stone Bridge High School senior shortstop Niki Prince and senior pitcher Kelly McDaniel, who has helped the Bulldogs to a 20-1 record this season, have been named the Liberty District's Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year in a vote of the district's coaches. Stone Bridge's Billy Rice was also named Coach of the Year.

Track and Field: Stone Bridge Boys Blast Way to Liberty District Title

(May 16, 2013) - The Stone Bridge High School boys track and field team just didn't win a Liberty District title Wednesday night, the Bulldog smashed the competition, piling up 151 points, more than double runner-up and host South Lakes at 75.

The Bulldog girls took third with 74 points behind winner South Lakes (155) and runner-up Langley (83).

Stone Bridge junior D'Ante Yarborough swept his way to four first place finishes as he won both of the  hurdles as well as the long and triple jumps. Brady Guertin took the 320 for Stone Bridge and Tyler Banks led a 1-2-3 finish in the high jump. Cameron Reynolds won the shot put and Jon Allen won the discus.

(May 15, 2013) - Stone Bridge High School senior Matt Hough's two-out, two-run double in the 8th inning clinched a 6-4 win at Fairfax Wednesday as the Bulldgos earned a spot in the Northern Region baseball tournament and reached the 200th win in the program's history, all under coach Sam Plank.

Stone Bridge was kept in the Liberty District second round match-up by seven strong innings from sophomore ace J.B. Bukauskas, who struck out 10 with one walk and five hits and two earned runs, and senior Ty Percherke shut the door with a 1-2-3 8th inning against the Rebels 2-3-4 hitters.

Stone Bridge earned a shot at district rival Madison, the top seed, Friday night at 5 p.m. in a district semifinal game at McLean High School.

Baseball: Stone Bridge SO J.B. Bukauskas Named Liberty District Co-Pitcher of the Year

(May 15, 2013) - Stone Bridge High School sophomore J.B. Bukauskas has been named the 2013 Liberty District Co-Pitcher of the Year in a vote of the district's coaches.

Madison's Dan Powers was named along with Bukauskas. Madison's Ben Socher was named the Player of the Year and Warhawk coach Mark "Pudge" Gjormand was named the Coach of the Year after guiding Madison to the regular season top spot.

Boys Lacrosse: Stone Bridge SR Dylan Maltz Named Liberty District Offensive Player of the Year

(May 10, 2013) - Stone Bridge High School high-scoring senior Dylan Maltz has been named the 2013 Liberty District boys lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year in a vote by the district's coaches. Madison's Matt Hayden was named the Defensive Player of the Year.

Madison's Rick Hodge and McLean's Nick Worek were named Co-Coaches of the Year and Langley's T.J. Doremus was named Assistant Coach of the Year. Farifax High School won the Sportsmanship Award and Madison's Bill Will was named Man of the Year.

Girls Tennis: Dominion Wins Dulles Regular-Season Crown; Freedom to Host Patriot for Cedar Run Tournament Title

(May 3, 2013) - Below are updated girls tennis standings for Dulles, Cedar Run and Liberty districts plus a look at the playoff picture:

Dulles District: Dominion wrapped up a perfect 9-0 Dulles season with a win over Briar Woods, avenging the Titans only loss on the year.

Cedar Run District: Freedom will host Patriot Monday for the Cedar Run tournament title after the Pioneers beat Broad Run in the semifinals.

Liberty District: Langley has won the regular season title.

Dulles District: Briar Woods (8-0) has one match left but the Falcons beat one-loss Loudoun County so they clinch the top spot.

Cedar Run District: Regular-season champion Broad Run and runner-up Freedom both won semifinal matches yesterday to advance to Monday's Cedar Run tournament finals at Broad Run.

Liberty District: Thomas Jefferson took the regular season title with a perfect 14-0 run.

(May 3, 2013) - Updated girls soccer standings for Dulles, Cedar Run and Liberty districts are below plus remaining district contests and a look at the regular-season title races:

District Title Races
Dulles: Briar Woods (5-0-1) is up a game on Loudoun County (4-0-1) and Woodgrove (4-1-0) but the Raiders in second place have four games left while the other two teams have just three. And LC plays both Briar Woods (May 7) and Woodgrove (May 14) so it should be a fun finish.

Cedar Run: Battlefield (8-0-0) has a huge lead on Patriot (5-1-1) but the Bobcats final two district contests are tough games against Broad Run and Patriot. Should Battlefield drop both, the door would be open for Patriot which could then claim the regular-season title by sweeping its final three matches against Freedom, Stonewall and Battlefield

Liberty: Stone Bridge (5-0-1) wrapped up the district's top spot with a 5-0 win over Marshall on Thursday. While McLean (4-1-1) is just a game back with one to play, the Bulldogs beat the Highlanders head-to-head.

(May 3, 2013) - Updated boys soccer standings for Dulles, Cedar Run and Liberty districts are below plus remaining district contests and a look at the regular-season title races:

Dulles: Potomac Falls and Tuscarora are tied at 5-0-0 in district and the two teams meet on May 10! Briar Woods sits one win back from the co-leaders but has only three games left while the Panthers and Huskies have four remaining.

Cedar Run: Broad Run at 6-1-0 has a one-game lead over Stonewall (5-3-0) and three matches left while the Raiders have two remaining. BR can clinch at least a tie for the regular-season title with a win in any of its three final matches.

Liberty: South Lakes clinched the district's top seed last night with a 1-0 win over Fairfax while second place Langley could only tie Jefferson, 1-1.

Dulles District: Loudoun County and Woodgrove are tied with 14-1 district records and three games left including a season finale against each other! Briar Woods is two games back with four still to play.

Cedar Run District: Osbourn and Battlefield are tied at 7-2 with one game left. Osbourn finishes with last place Stonewall (1-8) whiel Battlefield plays Patriot (5-4). Broad Run will be the 3 or 4 seed while Freedom will be the 5 or 6 seed.

Liberty District: Stone Bridge has clinched the top spot heading into the district tournament with a perfect 12-0 mark and two games left.

(May 4, 2013) - Here are the update baseball standings, plus remaining district contests, for the Dulles, Cedar Run and Liberty districts:

Dulles District: Potomac Falls has already clinched a share of the regular-season district tittle and the No. 1 seed from the district into Region II. The Panthers have a 3-game lead in the loss column over Loudoun Valley, Heritage and Woodgrove with three games left.

Cedar Run District: Battlefield has a 1-game lead over rival Patriot with the two teams meeting May 7 on the last day of the regular season. Freedom could still tie Patriot for the No. 2 spot and a bye into the district semifinals. Broad Run is locked into the No. 4 seed.

Liberty District: Madison has clinched the district's top spot heading into the tournament after a 13-inning win over Langley Friday.
