Youth Sports: Virginia Xtreme to Host 2nd Annual 5x5 Cherry Blossom Flag Football Open Tournament

(March 19, 2013) - Virginia Xtreme Sports is hosting its 2nd Annual 5x5 Cherry Blossom Flag Football Open Tournament on Sunday, April 7 in Leesburg. There are boys divisions for 10U, 12U, 14U and 18U and a girls division for ages 12-14.

Football: Virginia Xtreme 11U Purple Wins NFL Flag Baltimore Regional Tournament

(Nov. 6, 2012) -The Virginia Xtreme Sports 11U team (VXS Purple) won the Regional Flag Football tournament, hosted by NFL Flag and USA Football. The tournament was held on October 20th 2012 at The Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, MD.

The tournament consisted of 3 divisions 9-11 co-ed 12-14 boys and 12-14 girls and featured top teams from Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Indiana.

Flag Football: Leesburg Parks and Recreation Ida Lee Ravens Runaway with Tournament Title

(June 19, 2012) - The Leesburg Ravens, representing the Ida Lee NFL Flag Football League, ran away with the 11U bracket of the 2nd Annual Elite Flag Football Tournament. The Ravens, coached by Bob Barts and Scott Kalivokas, dominated the opposition as they rolled to victories over the Manassas Sharks of the Manassas Youth Football League, The Centreville Spartans of the Southwestern Youth Association and the Bealeton Raiders of the Fauquier Youth Flag Football League.

News: Tryout for Pro's vs. Joe's Set for May 5

(May 2, 2012) - O.K. "average Joe" athletes ... here is your chance to face the Pro's in a flag football game and other skills competitions, but first you have to try out on Saturday, May 5 at 4:30 p.m.

The Redskins Pro's vs. Joe's 2nd Annual summer festival is set for June 9. NFL alumni are scheduled to face the "Joe's" coached by Rock Parrish of 106.7 The Fan's Kevin and Rock Show. Flag Football: Teams Claim Titles at 1st Annual Cherry Blossom Tournament

Leesburg (April 27, 2012) - Virginia Xtreme Sports (VXS) hosted its first annual Cherry Blossom Open Flag Football Tournament on April 15 at Loudoun Country Day School. There were 25 teams from several states including Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland that competed in four skill divisions 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U in the one day event.

Flag Football: Cherry Blossom 5x5 Tournament Set for April 15 at Loudoun Country Day School

(April 11, 2012) - Virginia Xtreme Sports, building on the success of their Fall Classic Flag Football Tournament, is hosting its first annual Cherry Blossom Open 5v5 Flag Football Tournament from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 15 at Loudoun Country Day School in Leesburg. Top ranked teams from FL, NJ, PA, VA, MD and Washington, D.C. will participate in this competitive tournament with four age divisions (10U, 12U, 14U and 16U).

The tournament format is 5v5 with rosters comprised of six to 10 players. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games. Tournament champions will receive a team trophy and players individual medals. To register a team or for more information please visit:

Fall 2012 will mark the 17th year that the program is being offered to kids ages 4 thru 14 years old in the community. News: Touchdowns 4 Tommy Flag Football Charity Game Rescheduled for Oct. 13 at Loudoun County High School

(Sept. 29, 2011) - The annual Touchdowns 4 Tommy charity flag football game, which features alumni of Loudoun County and Park View high schools, has been rescheduled for Oct. 13 at Loudoun County High School at 7 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for this Wednesday but the fields are too wet.

The game raises money and awareness for SUDC (Sudden Unexpected Death In Childhood.) SUDC is the toddler version of SIDS and there is no cure or reason for it. Admission to the game will be $5 and all proceeds go to SUDC research.

The game is played in memory of Tommy Marshall who passed away do to SUDC at the age of 3. Any Park View or Loudoun County alums interested in playing can contact Cary Vipond at cary.vipond@lcps.org. The cost to play is $20.

Youth Sports - Flag Football: Ashburn-Leesburg i9 Fall League Kicks Off with Over 1,000 Kids

(Sept. 27, 2011) - The i9 Sports 2011 youth flag football fall season kicked off Sept. 17 with over 1,000 kids ages four through 14 taking the fields in Ashburn and Leesburg.

i9 Sports has provided children in Loudoun County a unique offering where different skill level divisions are being offered in the Fall 2011 Flag Football League. The Top Gun NOVA Flag Division allows full team entries with practices held during the week - while the youth recreational division offers individual player registrations with limited practices.

Flag Football: Cascades League Registering for Fall and High School League Forming

(Aug. 8, 2011) - Cascades Flag Football registration is open until Aug. 18 for grades K-8th, for anyone in the Sterling, Potomac Falls, Ashburn and neighboring areas.

The league is 5v5, NFL Flag Rules in a fun and positive environment. Practices are 1.5 hours long, once a week (with rain days on Friday), and games on Saturday (rain days on Sunday). The registration fee is $140, which includes a jersey. Player Assessments will be held on Aug. 20-21, practices begin Sept. 6 and season ends Nov. 6th. Youth Sports: Flag Football - Virginia Extreme to Host Tournament Aug. 21

(July 27, 2011) - Virginia Extreme Flag Football will be hosting an open youth Flag Football tournament on August 21 at Leesburg Country Day School.

Local teams and also regional teams from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware will be participating. The tournament will have age groups beginning from 14 on down to 9 years of age. There are still some slots available for teams who would like to participate. Youth Sports - Flag Football: Thrillers Mark First Ever Elite Championship

(June 19, 2011) - The first annual Elite Flag Football Championships lived up to its billing as the finals were a pair of thrillers with the Ida Lee Ravens erasing a 20-6 halftime deficit to edge the Fauquier Jaguars, 35-34, in U11 and in U13, the Fauquier Vikings won, 16-13, over Ashburn Youth Pro Flag Lions in the U-13 finals.

"It was an incredible day and an incredibible tournament," reports organizer Joe Kearney.

In the U11 bracket and in a very entertaining game, the Ida Lee Ravens (Leesburg) were trailing the Fauquier Jaguars 20-6 at halftime. The Ravens turned it up a notch inthe 2nd half and pulled out a tight 35-34 victory to clinch the 1st ever Elite Flag Football Championship title.

Earlier in the day, the Ravens had another come from behind win in defeating the previously undefeated Cascades Titans,26-24, and the Jaguars defeated the Ashburn Youth Pro Flag champion, the Vikings, 31-19, to advance to the title game.

In the U13 bracket and in another squeaker, The Fauquier County Champion Vikings defeated the Ashburn Youth Pro Flag Champion Lions , 16-13, to capture the tournament title The game came down to the final series with the clock running out on the Lions. Earlier in the day, The Fauquier Vikings defeated the Cascades League champion Falcons and the AYPF Lions advanced by defeating the Ida Lee regualr season champ, Texans.

Youth Sports: Flag Football - 1st Ever Elite Youth Tournament Pits Champs from 4 Leagues in 2 Age Groups

(June 15, 2011) - The Ashburn Youth Pro Flag Football League will host the first annual Elite Youth Flag Football tournament this Saturday, June 18 with champions from four leagues competing in two age groups.

Ashburn Youth Pro Flag, Ida lee from Leesburg, Sterling Select, and Fauquier County Youth Pro Flag are sending their champions from the 9-to-11 and 12-13 age group. The games will be held at the George Washington University, Virginia Campus beginning at 10am.

Cascades Titans (10-0) vs. Ida Lee Ravens (10-0), 10 a.m. Field 2
Fauquier Jaguars (9-1) vs. AYPF Vikings (10-0), 10 a.m. Field 3

Youth Sports: First Ever Loudoun/Fauquier Youth Flag Football Super Bowl Set

(May 31, 2011) - The first ever Loudoun/Fauquier Youth Flag Football Super Bowl will be held on Saturday, June 18 at George Washington University in Ashburn starting at 10 a.m.

The games will pit the Loudoun County youth flag football champion from the Ashburn Youth Pro Flag Football League vs. the Champion from The Fauquier County Youth Pro Flag football League. There will be a total of two games in two different age divisions, 9 to 11 and 12 to 13.
