Flag Football: Leesburg Parks and Recreation Ida Lee Ravens Runaway with Tournament Title

(June 19, 2012) - The Leesburg Ravens, representing the Ida Lee NFL Flag Football League, ran away with the 11U bracket of the 2nd Annual Elite Flag Football Tournament. The Ravens, coached by Bob Barts and Scott Kalivokas, dominated the opposition as they rolled to victories over the Manassas Sharks of the Manassas Youth Football League, The Centreville Spartans of the Southwestern Youth Association and the Bealeton Raiders of the Fauquier Youth Flag Football League.


This is the 2nd title for the Ravens in the 2 year existence of the tournament.

In the 14U bracket, 3 Loudoun teams participated in the event with the previously undefeated Ashburn Lions, representing the Ashburn I9 league, going the furthest before bowing out in the semifinal round against the Manassas Sharks. Earlier in the day, the Lions defeated the Cascades Sterling NFL Champion Cowboys and an overtime thriller versus the Warrenton Browns, the champions of the Fauquier Youth NFL Flag Football League.

The Ashburn Steelers, also representing I9, bowed out early by being defeated by the NFL Sterling Cowboys and the eventual champion Summerduck Redskins of the FYFFL.

All 3 Loudoun Leagues were represented in the event.

The Elite Youth Flag Football Tournament is in its 2nd year in existence and is designed to bring together house league champions through out Northern Virginia and vicinity to determine a true local champion in Youth Flag Football. All 3 Loudoun Leagues were represented in the event. This years tournament featured 16 teams coming from as far as Frederick MD.
