Basketball: "The Edge" Youth Summer Camp Now Registering

(July 9, 2013) - "The Edge" summer camp, which teaches kids basketball and life fundamentals, is now registering.

Baseball: Diamond Elite 15U Wins Morgantown Marathon

(June 28, 2013) - The Diamond Elite 15U Baseball team -- featuring 11 plays from local high schools -- had a great weekend of baseball June 22-23 winning the Morgantown Marathon in West Virginia. The event is run by Triple Crown Sports.

DE won pool games against the Harrison County Allstars from WV 12-1 and 2nd game they beat the Murrysville Marauders from PA 10-0. Sunday championship rounds DE beat the Mason Dixon Ruffnecks from PA 8-0. In the Semifinal matchup against the powerful Beaver Valley Red, DE won 1-0. DE went on to beat the South Central PA Tigers 5-4 in the Championship earning their spot in the Summer National Championships for Triple Crown Sports in late July.

Boys Basketball: Loudoun FLEXX All Stars 13U Premier Team Headed to National Championships in North Carolina

(June 28, 2013) - Loudoun FLEXX All Stars 13U Premier boys basketball team has qualified for a national championship tournament in North Carolina this summer as the Virginia North representative.

The team is ranked No. 1 (in Division 1, Virginia North) with the American Youth Basketball Association (AYBA) after winning the state championships at the end of May. Going into the state championships as the No. 1 seed, they preserved their ranking against some tough competition (Virginia Terriers and the BTH Bulldawgs).

Softball: Don't Tell the Wookiee but the Evil Empire was Crowned 14U AGSL Champions

(June 26, 2013) - Scott DeBergh is the polar opposite of Darth Vader but that didn't stop him from leading the Evil Empire 14U softball team to the Ashburn Girls Softball League championship this spring.

Youth Sports: Virginia Xtreme to Host 2nd Annual 5x5 Cherry Blossom Flag Football Open Tournament

(March 19, 2013) - Virginia Xtreme Sports is hosting its 2nd Annual 5x5 Cherry Blossom Flag Football Open Tournament on Sunday, April 7 in Leesburg. There are boys divisions for 10U, 12U, 14U and 18U and a girls division for ages 12-14.

Youth Sports: Basketball - D1 Sports & Athletics to Hold Spring Girls and Boys Travel Basketball Tryouts

(Feb. 18, 2013) - D1 Sports & Athletics (D1SA) will hold spring girls and boys travel basketball tryouts starting Tuesday, Feb. 19.

D1SA, a none-profit organization that provides youth athletes a unique opportunity to experience growth through competitive team play, tournaments, training and events throughout the greater Loudoun County area, will field six teams at the 7th grade boys level (two national, two regional, two local teams), a 4th grade boys team, a 7th/8th grade girls team and a 9th grade girls team.

Basketball: T2RBL Give Back Tournament Concludes Today with 8 Championships

(Dec. 15, 2012) - The first T2RBL Holiday "Give Back" Tip Off Basketball Tournament, which featured 900 players from the league's 3rd thru 8th grade house league teams concludes with eight championship games at Stone Hill Middle School.

 League organizers decided to tip off the season in a different way than in years past and coincide the new event with a food drive as well as donations in the form of daily admission on the weekends to help raise money for the DiGiovanni children's scholarship -- children who played in the league, who had their father pass away last year in an accident at the Beaver Dam Reservoir.

Football: AYFL to Sponsor Viva Loudoun's Saturday's State Title Game Coverage


(Dec. 6, 2012) - Ashburn Youth Football League, the feeder system that has helped produce five straight state title football championship teams in Loudoun, has signed on to sponsor Viva Loudoun's coverage Saturday, Dec. 8 of Stone Bridge High School's VHSL Division 5 state title game at the University of Virginia at noon and Briar Woods High School's Division 4 state title game at Liberty University at 4:30 p.m.

Players from both Briar Woods and Stone Bridge graduated from the AYFL ranks to the Falcons and Bulldogs. Ashburn has brought home state titles every year since 2007: Stone Bridge (2007), Broad Run (2008, 2009) and Briar Woods (2010, 2011).

Viva Loudoun editor Dan Sousa will be on the road at both games, bringing online coverage via the @VivaLoudounLive twitter feed, which will be streamed across the VivaLoudoun.com homepage. In addition, Viva Loudoun will have photographers (Steven Holland at UVa and Joel Wolcott at Liberty) at both contests.

About AYFL: Ashburn Youth Football League is a 501c3 (not for profit) youth sports league created for the children of Ashburn, Virginia and the surrounding areas.The AYFL exists to promote youth football in the Ashburn area, and is intended to be an instructional league that places an emphasis on the sound development of players and fundamentals of football, and strives to be a league that will inspire our youth to develop life skills of sportsmanship, character and teamwork.

The AYFL started play in 2000, and has continued to evolve into one of the premier youth leagues in the state of Virginia. The organization is comprised of four football leagues, A (7th and 8th graders), B (5th and 6th graders), C (3rd and 4th graders) and D which contains kids ages 6 and 7 who participate in a tackle program that is a purely developmental league designed to teach the basics of tackle football and prepare the youth for the more competitive A, B and C leagues and beyond.

Girls Volleyball: Undefeated Belmont Ridge Crowned LYV Select Champs

(Nov. 14, 2012) - The Belmont Ridge Middle school select girls volleyball team went undefeated in match play this season and beat the Simpson select team in three sets over the weekend to take the league championship.

Congratulations to the following members of the Belmont Ridge Select Volleyball Team: Lauren Ashwell, Alexandra Fuerst, Ryley Gill, Soraya Hayes, Lizzie Hopkins, Vanessa Marinelli, Brooke McLaughlin, Ashley Schaberg, Haley Schneider, and Gabbie Scudder. (Nov. 6, 2012) - Dominant is the only term to describe the 14U Diamond Elite team performance in the fall season for the NVTBL (Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League) and regional tournaments . With a NVTBL record of 11-0-1 as Oct. 21, the Elite allowed just 37 runs while racking up 149 runs of their own.

Baseball: New 9/10-U Travel Team Seeks Players

(Oct. 21, 2012) - The Ashburn Spartans Baseball team is a new 9/10U select travel baseball team seeking committed families for the spring 2013 season. We are looking for athletes that are serious about becoming better baseball players while competing in other sports in the fall and winter.

We will begin practice in January of 2013 and our season will end the last weekend in June. Baseball: Ashburn Spartans Win Inaugural Reston Round-Up Tournament

(Oct. 15, 2012) - The Ashburn Spartans, a new travel baseball team of 11 and 12-year-olds affiliated with Replay Sports and Training, came home with the 1st Place trophy over the Columbus Day Weekend after winning the Reston Round-Up.

Playing in their first tournament together, the Spartans found themselves down 10-4 entering the last inning of their first game, but clutch hitting by Bennett Millar and Devin Robertson led to an eight run rally, and the Spartans held on to defeat their hosts, the Reston Warriors, by the score of 12-10.

Baseball: Diamond Elite 14U Takes Longhorn Stampede Silver Bracket Championship

(Oct. 9, 2012) - The 14U Diamond Elite baseball squad topped challenging opposition to take first place in the silver bracket of the Longhorn Stampede Tournament, held Sept 28-30 in Loudoun County. With a regular season record of 10-0-1, scoring 142 runs and allowing just 33, this powerhouse lineup came into the tourney as the No. 1 14U team in the Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League (NVTBL).
