Football: Big Day for Valenzuela, Coach Says He is Likely Best Overall Player in Dominion History

Matt Valuenzuela: Saint Francis Signed! 
 (Feb. 6, 2013) - Perhaps the positions he played for Dominion High School over the years says it best as senior Matt Valenzuela starred at tight end, running back, wide receiver, defensive end and linebacker. Heck, he probably would have driven the Titans team bus if coach Karl Buckwalter had asked.

"He leaves a fantastic legacy and is probably the best overall football player in Dominion history," said Buckwalter.

Valenzuela didn't waste any time on National Signing Day, faxing his Letter of Intent this morning to play next year at NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (what most still call the I-AA) at Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania.

The Northeast Conference school is looking for the 6-foot-2, 220-pound workhorse to play tight end for the Red Flash.

    Clearly this kid had more chances to play other positions than Reeves, but its not a fair comparison. Reeves was too good to move off of RB at any point, this kid filled holes for them.

    Excitement and Enthusiasm for sure! Reaves was an amazing player on both sides of the ball -- I was lucky enough to be at Washington-Lee High School when Reaves made his varsity debut as a freshman and it felt like half my career in Loudoun was spent covering him! ... Bottom line: Dominion lucky to have had both in uniform!
