The Panthers have scheduled a meeting for prospective football players and their families to meet the new coach on Wednesday February 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the school's library.
Allen has coached at Group AAA power Oscar Smith in Chesapeake for 10 years. It looks like he has coached just about every position on the JV and varsity level including being the defensive coordinator.

"Panther Territory is full of hard working athletes that are willing to pay the price for success. Through my experiences at Oscar Smith as well as my life I understand what it takes to build a successful football program. Passion, hard work, and a commitment to excellence will bring the program to an unprecedented level of success."
Potomac Falls is the second school to raid the Hampton Roads area for a new football coach as Freedom High School hired Jared Van Acker from Yorktown's Grafton High School to take over the Eagles program two weeks ago.
With Heritage High School having earlier hired Reed Prosser of Millbrook High School in Winchester to take over the Pride program that makes all three offseason head football coaching hires in Loudoun from outside of the county's 13 high schools.
Oscar Smith won VHSL Division 6 state championships in 2008 and 2011 and in 10 years posted an amazing 125-16 mark while Allen was coaching in the program. That run included reaching nine Eastern Region championships (winning four), capturing nine Southeastern District championships and making 10 straight playoff appearances.
During that time, Oscar Smith appeared on ESPN twice, playing in the Kirk Herbstreit Kick-Off Classic at Ohio State.
Among the positions coached by Allen at Oscar Smith on the varsity level: defensive coordinator, special teams coordinator, position coach for wide receivers, linebackers, defensive backs. On the JV level he was at times: head coach, defensive coordinator, position coach for offensive line, quarterbacks, running backs, defensive backs and linebackers.
Among the players Allen has coached are all-district, all-region, all-state and even a few All-Americans as well as numerous players that earned college scholarships.
Allen has also been the after-school and summer weight lifting and conditioning instructor during his time at Oscar Smith.
He played football and baseball for Stony Brook University. At linebacker he helped Darien to two Connecticut state finals, winning the state title in 1997, and was named an Honorable Mention All American candidate by USA Today.
Allen is No. 4 in Darien school history with 156 tackles in 1997 and his 118 tackles in 1996 is good enough for No. 12 all-time.
On the baseball field at Darien he hit .360 as a senior and .354 as a junior. At Stony Brook he owned the highest GPA on the football team and in college listed his goal in life as "to teach history and coach football and baseball at a high school."
Allen has taught social studies at Oscar Smith High School for 10 years, but is also certified in physical education. He earned his Masters in education from Old Dominion University.
Look out Dulles District, this guy is for real and Potomac Falls will finally rise to the top where it belongs. One can only hope that he brings along top tier assistants as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm an Oscar Smith alumni, not trying to burst your bubble but as far as assistant coaches go Allen is going to have to start from scratch. The rest of the Oscar Smith Coaching staff is remaining at Oscar Smith. Regardless, Allen is a great coach, very energetic person, and overall he knows how to get the job done. He'll also whip your whole team in to top tier strength through his lifting program. I myself played under him and Coach Morgan for three years, Recipe for success. Don't be surprised when Potomac Falls easily makes the playoffs. Anyone coming from the Oscar Smith Football program knows how to WIN, losses were rare.
