Football: Potomac Falls to Hire Oscar Smith Assistant Jason Allen as New Head Coach

(Feb. 25, 2013) - The Loudoun County Public Schools Board is expected to approve Oscar Smith High School assistant football coach Jason Allen as Potomac Falls High School new head coach at their meeting on Tuesday night. Allen's hiring was confirmed by a Potomac Falls athletic department release Monday after Tuesday's consent agenda addendum was published on the school district's website listing Allen on the agenda.

The Panthers have scheduled a meeting for prospective football players and their families to meet the new coach on Wednesday February 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the school's library.

Allen has coached at Group AAA power Oscar Smith in Chesapeake for 10 years. It looks like he has coached just about every position on the JV and varsity level  including being the defensive coordinator.

"I am looking forward to building a successful football program at Potomac Falls High School where the Panther players will be winners for life," said Allen in a prepared statement. "Panther Territory is full of hard working athletes that are willing to pay the price for success. Through my experiences at Oscar Smith as well as my life I understand what it takes to build a successful football program. Passion, hard work, and a commitment to excellence will bring the program to an unprecedented level of success."

Potomac Falls is the second school to raid the Hampton Roads area for a new football coach as Freedom High School hired Jared Van Acker from Yorktown's Grafton High School to take over the Eagles program two weeks ago.

With Heritage High School having earlier hired Reed Prosser of Millbrook High School in Winchester to take over the Pride program that makes all three offseason head football coaching hires in Loudoun from outside of the county's 13 high schools.
