News: Loudoun County Sheriff's Daily Crime Report - July 1, 2013

(July 1, 2013) - There isn't much of a summer vacation for local law enforcement as the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office has been kept busy, according to the July 1, 2013 Daily Crime Report which includes:

Warrant Service/Assault on Law Enforcement: Deputies responded to a residence to serve four felony warrants for distribution of narcotics. During the warrant service several occupants of the home provided false information regarding the whereabouts of the wanted subject. A female inside the residence, Ashantie M. Jones, 30, of Sterling, assaulted a deputy. She attempted to resist arrest as she was taken into custody. Jones was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer and obstruction of justice. The wanted subject, Dominique L. Coleman, 26, of Sterling, was located hiding inside the apartment. Coleman was served on the four counts of distribution of narcotics. She was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a $5000 bond.

Larceny: A driver’s side window to a vehicle was damaged to gain entry. A GPS and a smart phone were taken.

Larceny: Unknown subject(s) damaged a passenger side window to a vehicle activating the car alarm. Two cell phones and a wallet were taken.

Robbery: The victim was exiting his vehicle when he saw four suspects. Three of the suspects approached him and one brandished a firearm. The suspects took the victim’s backpack, including a laptop, smartphone and wallet. Three of the suspects were later apprehended after a second reported armed robbery on Old Ox Road. Driving while Intoxicated: A Sheriff’s Office canine unit was struck by a vehicle as the dog and his handler were preparing for a ground search after the robbery case listed above. A vehicle was observed driving down the roadway without its headlights on. The vehicle was traveling at a low rate of speed and struck the canine. The driver, Santos T. Benites-Sarmiento, 40, of Sterling, was charged with DUI. He was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and has since been released. The cannine was not seriously injured.

Robbery: The two victims were walking in the area when two males exited a vehicle. One of the suspects brandished a firearm and demanded their belongings. The suspects took the victim’s smart phones. A Loudoun Sheriff’s Deputy located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The suspects inside the vehicle exited from the car in the area of Falke Plaza and fled on foot. A perimeter was established and a canvass of the area was conducted with the assistance of multiple area jurisdictions. One suspect was immediately apprehended, a second suspect was apprehended in the area of Shaw Road and a third suspect was apprehended by a Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Canine Unit. The fourth suspect, who has been identified as a juvenile, has not been located at this time. Charged in the case are Idris Zikria-Showers, 19, of Gainesville, a 16-year-old from Manassas and a 15-year-old from Manassas. The names of the 16-year-old and 15-year-old cannot be released due to the fact they are juveniles. All three suspects are charged with three counts of robbery and two counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Zikria-Showers is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. The two juveniles are being held at the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center. DUI/Eluding/Possession of Schedule I Narcotic: A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of the Sterling Boulevard and Beech Road. The vehicle continued to drive and increased its speed to well in excess of the posted speed limit. The vehicle attempted to turn onto Garfield Road but the driver lost control and struck a fence and a tree. The driver and a passenger attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended in the area of Circle Drive. Bryce M. Hayes, 20, of Sterling, was charged with felony eluding, DUI, possession of marijuana, and hit and run. A passenger in the car, Kyle P. Hogan, 18, of Sterling, was charged with possession of a schedule I substance and underage possession of alcohol. Both men were taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and have since been released.

Suspicious Event: A resident discovered a discharged round from a firearm lodged in a kitchen cupboard. A window was also found damaged.

Assault and Battery: A 24-year-old Sterling woman reported that she was assaulted by two subjects, one of whom used pepper spray during the assault. Christina N. Ngamsanith, 22, of Sterling, was charged with assault. Deputies are working to identify the second suspect in the case. The assault stems from a dispute between the victim and the suspects.
