News: Gum Spring Library Grand Opening Set for Feb. 23

(Feb. 19, 2013) - The Loudoun County Public Library will celebrate the grand opening of Gum Spring Library at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013. The public is encouraged to attend the opening celebration which will include remarks from local dignitaries, a ribbon cutting, storybook characters and live performances throughout the day. Gum Spring Library is located in the Stone Ridge community at 24600 Millstream Drive, at the intersection of Stone Spring Boulevard and Route 50.


Gum Spring Library will be the eighth branch in the Loudoun County Public Library system and is expected to be one of the busiest - serving over 100,000 residents in the fast-growing area of Loudoun County that includes South Riding.

The opening of Gum Spring Library will add 80,000 new books and other materials into the Loudoun County Public Library’s collection. The 40,000-square-foot branch spans two floors with unique areas designated for young children, teens, and adults and offers expansive outdoor views of the surrounding wetlands area. In addition, the library provides public computers and Wi-Fi throughout the building, a large meeting room for 150 people, a conference room, and five study rooms. The library features self-check-out stations, payment kiosks and digital displays on both floors and a permanent public art installation designed and produced by local tile artist, Joan Gardiner.
