Girls Basketball: Broad Run Punches Ticket to Regionals on FR Leonard's Game Winner

(Feb. 8, 2013) - Broad Run High School's Mariah Leonard is just a freshman but she has had a memorable girls basketball postseason already, highlighted by her game-winning shot Thursday with five seconds  left to give the Spartans a 50-49 win over Osbourn and qualify for the AAA Northwest Region tournament for the first time.

Leonard finished Thursday's Cedar Run District consolation finals with a season-high 23 points and 18 rebounds. Earlier in the week she hauled down an amazing 27 rebounds while scoring 18 points in the Spartans 53-43 win over Freedom in the quarterfinals.


In three postseason games she has combined for 47 points and 53 rebounds.

Also Thursday, Fatima Kamara collected a double-double for Broad Run with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
