News: Touchdowns 4 Tommy Flag Football Charity Game Rescheduled for Oct. 13 at Loudoun County High School

(Sept. 29, 2011) - The annual Touchdowns 4 Tommy charity flag football game, which features alumni of Loudoun County and Park View high schools, has been rescheduled for Oct. 13 at Loudoun County High School at 7 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for this Wednesday but the fields are too wet.

The game raises money and awareness for SUDC (Sudden Unexpected Death In Childhood.) SUDC is the toddler version of SIDS and there is no cure or reason for it. Admission to the game will be $5 and all proceeds go to SUDC research.

The game is played in memory of Tommy Marshall who passed away do to SUDC at the age of 3. Any Park View or Loudoun County alums interested in playing can contact Cary Vipond at cary.vipond@lcps.org. The cost to play is $20.

News: Loudoun County Defeats Park View, 19-7, in Touchdowns for Tommy Charity Football Alumni Game

(Oct. 27, 2010) - After a month of postponements due to weather, the second annual Touchdowns for Tommy charity football alumni game was held last week with Loudoun County defeating Park View, 19-7, to avenge a 21-19 last-minute loss in the 2009 contest.

The oldest alumni at the game at Park View High School were Patriot Randy Kushner (class of '78) and Raider J.B. Anderson (Class of '66).

The game is a fundraiser for SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood). SUDC is the toddler version of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). The game is played to raise awareness of, and money for, SUDC in the name of the late Tommy Marshall. Tommy passed away to unexplained reasons at the age of 3, two years ago.

The first annual Touchdowns for Tommy was played last year at Loudoun County High School and more than $5,000 was raised in the Sterling and Leesburg communities.

Football: Touchdowns for Tommy Charity Game Between Loudoun County and Park View Alumni Set for Thursday

(June 28, 2010) - Former high school rivals from Loudoun County and Park View are set to play in the second annual Touchdowns for Tommy charity football game. The game featuring over 50 football Raider and Patriot alumni will take place on Thursday, September 30th at Park View High School in Sterling. The game begins at 7 p.m.

This event is held in honor of Thomas Andrew Marshall, son of Park High School class of 1995 alumni Andy Marshall and his wife Beth. Tommy was a healthy, happy, thriving 2-year-old toddler who passed away unexpectedly in May 2008. Tommy's parents were given no real explanation as to what took their son's life. All proceeds will benefit the Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) Program, a cousin of SIDS that affects children after their first birthday.

The SUDC Program is part of the CJ Foundation for SIDS, a national non-profit organization leading the fight against SIDS and SUDC.

News: Touchdowns for Tommy Charity Football Game Set for Sept. 30 at Park View

(Aug. 12, 2010) - Touchdowns for Tommy, the charity flag football game that raised more than $5,000 last year to fight Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC), is scheduled for Sept. 30 at Park View High School with a 7 p.m. kickoff.

SUDC is the toddler version of SIDS. The game, which pits former Loudoun County High School football players against Park View alumni, is played in memory of Tommy Marshall who passed away at the age of two to SUDC. All proceeds go to organizations that raise awareness and fight SUDC.

Last year the game featured 80 players and saw visiting Park View stop the Raiders on the 1-yard line on the last play of the game. Organizers hope to pack the stands this season for the second annual game and raise $10,000

Something new this year is a tentative Battle of the Bands between the Patriots and Raiders at halftime.

Flag Football: Touchdowns for Tommy Raises $5,000 and Features Exciting Finish

The Touchdowns for Tommy flag football fundraiser for SUDC (Sudden Unexpected Death In Childhood) at Loudoun County High School Thursday night raised $5,000 according to organizer Cary Vipond and it featured an exciting finish as the Park View alumni made a last minute goalline stand to defeat the LC alumni, 21-19.

Leesburg (Sept. 17, 2009) - At least 40 Alumni from Loudoun County and Park View high have signed up to play in a flag football benefit game set for Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at Loudoun County High School.

"Tochdowns for Tommy" is being held to help raise money for SUDC (Sudden Unexpected Death In Childhood).

Tommy Marshall passed away at the age of two and half to unexplained reasons which are classified as SUDC, the toddler version of SIDS. Loudoun County assistant football coach Cary Vipond, a friend of the Marshall family, has organized the charity event.
