Track and Field: Broad Run Boys 2nd, Girls 3rd at Cedar Run District Meet

(May 17, 2013) - Broad Run High School boys took second at the Cedar Run District track and field meet completed Thursday and the Spartan girls were third. Freedom was fourth in both meets.

There was plenty to celebrate with the Broad Run and Freedom squads being especially strong in the field events.

Freedom's Kenny Moss turned an 11.03 to take the 100 meters. Broad Run's Alex Salgado won the 300 meter hurdles with a season best 41.92.

The Freedom boys 4x800 meter relay team of Andrew Peretin, Matthew Kennedy, Waler Reusche and Keithen Orson won with a 8:26.13.

Broad Run went 1-2 in the high jump with Chad McAuslin edging teammate Dorian Jenkins after both jumped 6-00. Jenkins led a 1-2 in the long jump with a 21-01 while teammate Darion Bunting jumped 19-07.

Spartan Jake Walker won the shot put with a heave of 41-09.5 and he was runner-up in the discus.

Freedom's Amanda Salami ran a 12.20 prelim and then 12.36 in the finals to win the 100 meters. Broad Run's Jordyn Anderson won the long jump at 16-03.

(May 14, 2013) - The All-Cedar Run District baseball team was released Tuesday with Battlefield High School junior Nick Feight named the Player of he Year and Battlefield's Jay Burkhart named the Coach of the Year in a vote of the district's coaches.

Girls Soccer: All-Cedar Run District Team Released

(May 14, 2013) - The All-Cedar Run District girls soccer team was released today with Battlefield High School junior Colleen Gawkins named Player of the Year and Patriot's Kelly Beauchamp-Payne named  the Coach of the Year in a vote of the district's coaches. Beauchamp-Payne was the long-time coach at Dominion High School in Sterling before moving to Patriot to start the Pioneers program.

Dulles District: Dominion wrapped up a perfect 9-0 Dulles season with a win over Briar Woods, avenging the Titans only loss on the year.

Cedar Run District: Freedom will host Patriot Monday for the Cedar Run tournament title after the Pioneers beat Broad Run in the semifinals.

Liberty District: Langley has won the regular season title.

Dulles District: Briar Woods (8-0) has one match left but the Falcons beat one-loss Loudoun County so they clinch the top spot.

Cedar Run District: Regular-season champion Broad Run and runner-up Freedom both won semifinal matches yesterday to advance to Monday's Cedar Run tournament finals at Broad Run.

Liberty District: Thomas Jefferson took the regular season title with a perfect 14-0 run.

Dulles District: Woodgrove clinched another regular-season district title with a big win at Loudoun County last night. Here is what we think the brackets will look like:

(May 3, 2013) - Updated girls soccer standings for Dulles, Cedar Run and Liberty districts are below plus remaining district contests and a look at the regular-season title races:

District Title Races
Dulles: Briar Woods (5-0-1) is up a game on Loudoun County (4-0-1) and Woodgrove (4-1-0) but the Raiders in second place have four games left while the other two teams have just three. And LC plays both Briar Woods (May 7) and Woodgrove (May 14) so it should be a fun finish.

Cedar Run: Battlefield (8-0-0) has a huge lead on Patriot (5-1-1) but the Bobcats final two district contests are tough games against Broad Run and Patriot. Should Battlefield drop both, the door would be open for Patriot which could then claim the regular-season title by sweeping its final three matches against Freedom, Stonewall and Battlefield

Liberty: Stone Bridge (5-0-1) wrapped up the district's top spot with a 5-0 win over Marshall on Thursday. While McLean (4-1-1) is just a game back with one to play, the Bulldogs beat the Highlanders head-to-head.

(May 3, 2013) - Updated boys soccer standings for Dulles, Cedar Run and Liberty districts are below plus remaining district contests and a look at the regular-season title races:

Dulles: Potomac Falls and Tuscarora are tied at 5-0-0 in district and the two teams meet on May 10! Briar Woods sits one win back from the co-leaders but has only three games left while the Panthers and Huskies have four remaining.

Cedar Run: Broad Run at 6-1-0 has a one-game lead over Stonewall (5-3-0) and three matches left while the Raiders have two remaining. BR can clinch at least a tie for the regular-season title with a win in any of its three final matches.

Liberty: South Lakes clinched the district's top seed last night with a 1-0 win over Fairfax while second place Langley could only tie Jefferson, 1-1.

(May 4, 2013) - Updated softball standings -- and remaining district games -- for the Dulles, Cedar Run and Liberty districts:

Dulles District: Loudoun County and Woodgrove are tied with 14-1 district records and three games left including a season finale against each other! Briar Woods is two games back with four still to play.

Cedar Run District: Osbourn and Battlefield are tied at 7-2 with one game left. Osbourn finishes with last place Stonewall (1-8) whiel Battlefield plays Patriot (5-4). Broad Run will be the 3 or 4 seed while Freedom will be the 5 or 6 seed.

Liberty District: Stone Bridge has clinched the top spot heading into the district tournament with a perfect 12-0 mark and two games left.

(May 4, 2013) - Here are the update baseball standings, plus remaining district contests, for the Dulles, Cedar Run and Liberty districts:

Dulles District: Potomac Falls has already clinched a share of the regular-season district tittle and the No. 1 seed from the district into Region II. The Panthers have a 3-game lead in the loss column over Loudoun Valley, Heritage and Woodgrove with three games left.

Cedar Run District: Battlefield has a 1-game lead over rival Patriot with the two teams meeting May 7 on the last day of the regular season. Freedom could still tie Patriot for the No. 2 spot and a bye into the district semifinals. Broad Run is locked into the No. 4 seed.

Liberty District: Madison has clinched the district's top spot heading into the tournament after a 13-inning win over Langley Friday.

Wrestling: Complete Cedar Run Tournament Results

(Feb. 8, 2013) - At last weekend's Cedar Run District wrestling meet, Battlefield won with 210.5 points and Freedom was runner-up with 180.

Freedom senior Brendan Kammerdeeiner won the 195 pounds title and teammate sophomore Devin Richards claimed the 220 championship. Broad Run senior Tarkan Martin took the 138 title.

Runner-ups were Broad Run's Timmy Brown (106) and Logan Shain (170), and Freedom's Bradley Nelson (152) and Jake Wren (160).

Boys Basketball: Freedom Falls to Battlefield, Faces Patriot Tonight for Final Regional Spot; Hawkins Hits 1,000-Point Milestone

(Feb. 7, 2013) - The Freedom High School High boys basketball team fell at Battlefield Wednesday, 60-36, in the Cedar Run District semifinals but the Eagles have a chance to advance to the Northwest Regional when they play Patriot tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas. The Eagles will look for a big game from senior Darren Hawkins who was honored last night for reaching the 1,000-point milestone.

Girls Basketball: Broad Run Looks to Clinch Regional Spot Tonight After Tough Loss to Stonewall

(Feb. 7, 2013) - The Broad Run High School girls basketball team takes on Osbourn tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the Cedar Run District consolation game at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas. The winner advances to the Northwest Region tournament.

Broad Run fell Wednesday to top seed Stonewall, 90-34.
