Gymnastics: Freedom Edges Broad Run by Two-Tenths of a Point for the Dulles District Title

(Feb. 15, 2010) - Broad Run High School sisters Drea and Kimmy Ewen swept the All-Around competition at the Dulles District meet Sunday at Potomac Falls High School but the Spartans were edged for the team title by two-tenths of a point as Freedom claimed the school's first ever gymnastics district banner.

Freedom scored a season-best 136.325 to edge Broad Run at 136.125. The Eagles didn't win an individual events -- Drea Ewen captured the bars (9.425) and beam (9.200), teammate Crystal Noschese won the vault (9.425) and Potomac Falls' Allie Daczkowski won the floor (9.200) but Alexis Chaet, fifth in the All-Around, led a deep Eagle squad that included Shannon Landry, 7th in the All-Around, Lauren McClure, 9th, and Morgan Toelle, 14th.

Most of the gymnasts will be back in action on Monday at Potomac Falls once again as the Panthers host the A/AA state qualifier at 3 p.m.

  2. Good question! I ran into some file size limitations with SmugMug but I've been able to upload larger files today from last night's basketball so I'm reloading the gymnastics interview with Coach Oliphant. Cross your fingers!
