Girls Lacrosse: Briar Woods' Priscilla Smith to Play at Christopher Newport Next Year

Ashburn (Feb. 22, 2010) - Briar Woods High School senior Priscilla Smith senior has committed to play lacrosse next year at Christopher Newport University next year, making her the first player to ever commit to play women’s lacrosse in college from Briar Woods.

Smith, who was highly recruited, loved CNU from the beginning and felt that CNU was a good fit for her both academically and athletically.

She has started every game during her high school career and was part of Falcon coach Laura Nelson’s Briar Woods team last season that set a school record for wins (12-3), which included the school’s first ever playoff win in the sport.

Smith was an All-Dulles District selection while playing center as a junior team captain and also played on the Upper Corner lacrosse girls select 2010 team, coached by Jay Harkey (Loudoun Valley) and Whitney Groseclose (Stone Bridge).

The returning senior looks forward to her final season at Briar Woods and is eager to play next year for the CNU Captains who are a powerhouse in the USA South Conference where they are favorites to win a third straight conference title.

Smith will join a roster with Valley grads Meghan Harkey and Kaitlin Quigley, both juniors at CNU, and freshman Sarah Ball, a freshman from Broad Run.
