(Feb. 2, 2010) - Look no disrespect to Punxsutawney Phil, who predicted six more weeks of winter this morning, but just looking at my driveway -- which appears to be a luge track ready for the Vancouver Olympics and a glance at the forecast this morning where I heard the words "snow tonight" and then "monster snowstorm Saturday" told me that our winter of discontent is far from over.
Much like the movie "Groundhog Day" we are trapped in a repeating cycle ... if it's Saturday, it must be snowing. Dulles District has big events planned for this weekend -- district swim Friday night, district gymnastics and wrestling Saturday -- so don't be surprised if your friendly Athletic Directors aren't huddling for a reschedule plan. Some schools have been hit really hard -- I think Heritage basketball has 18 games left to play in the final 8 days of the season.
Simply put ... before this winter is over, snow for all of us is going to truly be a four-letter word.
