Softball: Broad Run Grad Clohan and Loudoun County Grad James Make CAA's 25th Anniversary Team

RICHMOND, Va. (January 21, 2010) - The Colonial Athletic Association has announced its softball Silver Anniversary team. The squad includes seven former CAA Players of the Year and four former CAA Pitchers of the Year, and two former Loudoun standouts -- Broad Run grad Jenny Clohan and Loudoun County grad Stacy James.

Clohan played at James Madison from 2006 to 2009 where she received first-team All-Region and first-team All-CAA accolades in 2007. She owns JMU's career records for innings (592) and saves (10), and ranks second in wins (51). In 2007 she set a JMU single season mark by posting a 1.21 earned run average.

James played at George Mason from 2002 to 2005 and was named the Player of the Year in the CAA and state of Virginia in 2003. She was a four-time All-CAA selection, including first-team honors in 2002, 2003 and 2005. James holds five Mason career records, including hits (265), runs (134) and triples (20).

As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports. The teams were selected by a panel of current and former coaches in the conference.

Softball has been a championship sport in the CAA since 2002. Hofstra has been the league's dominant program, winning the first seven CAA championships from 2002-08. James Madison ended the Pride's streak in 2009 by winning its first conference title. Towson has advanced to the CAA championship game four times and Georgia State has made it twice in just four years as a league member.

Hofstra has represented the conference well in the NCAA Softball Championship. The Pride won at least one NCAA Tournament game in all six of its appearances from 2003-08 and posted multiple victories four times. In 2004, Hofstra became the first #7 seed in NCAA history to advance to the regional finals.
