(Feb 24, 2012) - Stone Bridge High School grad Johny Bladel, a junior pitcher and outfielder for NCAA Division I James Madison University (JMU) Dukes, has been named to the 2012 Preseason All Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Team.
As a sophomore, Bladel was named American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) First Team All-East Region, Second Team All-CAA, and First Team All-State.
He claimed the award for Most Outstanding Player of the 2011 CAA Championship, and was also named to the NCAA All-Regional Team at the Chapel Hill Regional Tournament last June. For the season, he hit .360 with 12 doubles, five triples, four home runs, 41 RBIs, 69 runs and 26 steals.
As a freshman, Bladel was awarded CAA All-Rookie Team. As a Stone Bridge Bulldog, Bladel was named as First Team Washington Post All Met and All State, as well as Loudoun Extra Player of the Year.

The James Madison University Dukes placed first in the CAA in 2011 with an overall record of 42-19 and a league mark of 21-9. They won the CAA Championship in Wilmington, N.C., the program’s second league title, and followed the win with a runner-up finish at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional last June.
It was the program’s best postseason finish since a 1983 trip to the College World Series in Omaha. The Dukes were picked as the league’s 2012 preseason favorite for the fourth consecutive year and are receiving votes in multiple preseason top 25 polls. The season opened Feb. 17 at Coastal Carolina.
