Wrestling: Loudoun County Takes 4th at Region II Meet; LC's Smith and PF's Zulkhuu Win Titles

(Feb. 13, 2012) - The Loudoun County High School wrestling team finished fourth at the Region II meet over the weekend with 132-pounder Logan Smith winning a title. Also winning a regional title was Potomac Falls 152-pounder Batchka Zulkhuu.

Regional runner-ups went to Josh Hawk of Loudoun Valley at 126, A.J. Pittas of Loudoun County at 138, Josh Casseda-Maple of Loudoun Valley at 160 and David Garvis of Loudoun Valley at 182.

Qualifying for the VHSL AA state meet in third: Michael Hulcher (Briar Woods) 120, Joe Cavallaro (Woodgrove) 160 and Michael Williams (Dominion) 182.

Moving on in 4th place: Reggie Miller (Briar Woods) 113, Micah Hotz (Park View) 160, Dionte Fitts (Tuscarora) 182, Emile Khattar (Dominion) 195 and Ronald Cruz (Park View) 285.


Raiders Report on Regionals
Loudoun County Wrestling team brought 13 wrestlers to regions and brought back 12 on the 2nd day as they were 4th place as a team and sent 3 wrestlers into the Semi-finals (Scott Rossell, Logan Smith, and AJ Pittas). After the Semi-finals the Raiders jumped up to 2nd place in team standings, but after wrestle backs they fell back to 4th place in which they ended the tournament in (1 place higher than last year). Placing for the Raiders were, Eric Acton 6th, Scott Rossell 5th, AJ Pittas 2nd, and Logan Smith 1st. Logan Smith and AJ Pittas qualify for AA states this weekend, Scott Rossell is an alternate.
