Basketball: Dulles Titles Up for Grab; Broad Run Boys, Freedom Girls Look to Extend Season

(Feb. 10, 2012) - While the Dulles District wraps up the basketball regular season tonight with the girls title up for grabs when Loudoun County collides at Woodgrove and Loudoun Valley boys able to clinch a title with a win over Tuscarora, both the Broad Run boys and Freedom girls are into postseason play with must-win games in the Cedar Run District consolation finals to keep their seasons alive.

Broad Run, which fell in a wild overtime game Wednesday at Osbourn with Nigel Johnson scoring an all-time Loudoun record 55 points, is at Battlefield at 7 p.m. The Freedom girls host Osbourn at 7. In both games, the winner will advance to the Northwest Region tournament while the loser is finished.

In the Dulles District, Loudoun County has clinched a share of the girls district title but Woodgrove can make it a co-championship with a win tonight and force a 1-game playoff Saturday to decided the district's top seed. On the boys side, Loudoun Valley wins its first ever Dulles title with a win. If the Vikings were upset and Briar Woods beats Dominion, then the Falcons would grab the top seed.
