Ready for Round 2? Potomac Falls at Briar Woods Tonight!
(Feb. 8, 2012) - The Dulles District boys and girls basketball races will be decided on the final three nights of the season with Briar Woods boys hosting Potomac Falls tonight at 7:30 p.m. in a big game made that much bigger after the Falcons were knocked off last night by Heritage.
The Pride's 50-point second half left Briar Woods, playing without point guard Myles Tate who was out ill, with a 12-2 district mark and tied in the loss column with Loudoun Valley (13-2). The Vikes lost the season series against the Falcons so they need Briar Woods to drop one of their two remaining games with tonight's match-up against the third-place Panthers (9-5) the marquee match-up.
On Friday, Loudoun Valley and Briar Woods are matched up with the two teams tied for last in the district with Vikings hosting Tuscarora and the Falcons hosting Dominion.
Potomac Falls comes into tonight's contest in Ashburn on a roll, having beaten highly-touted Osbourn over the weekend in a non-district game. On Jan. 25, Briar Woods battled at Potomac Falls in an entertaining double overtime game with the Falcons escaping with a 77-75 win.
On the girls side, Loudoun County has clinched a share of the district title at 15-0 but Woodgrove (14-1) can force a one-game playoff when the two team collide Friday in Purcellville on the final day of the regular season.
Dominion and Tuscarora boys will face each other in a playin game for the final tournament spot on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Heritage High School.
These two teams will meet Saturday in Dulles District Play-in Game ...
