News: Loudoun County Offers Christmas Tress Recycling

Special to VivaLoudoun
(Jan. 4, 2012) - Loudoun County offers five convenient locations for residents to drop off Christmas trees for recycling between now and Thursday, January 19, 2012. They are: Claude Moore Park in Sterling, the rear parking lot of Town Hall in South Riding, the Loudoun County Solid Waste Management Facility in Leesburg, Franklin Park in Purcellville, and the Game Protective Association in Lovettsville.

Please remove lights, ornaments, stand, and other materials before recycling. Christmas trees should not be placed in bags. Wreaths and artificial trees are not accepted due to the wire used in their construction. Christmas trees will be mixed with other natural woods and recycled into mulch at the Loudoun County landfill. Free mulch will be available at the landfill while supplies last.

Residents who receive curbside recycling service are encouraged to take advantage of Christmas tree recycling services offered by the major waste collectors in the county during the first couple of weeks of January. Residents may contact their homeowners associations, town offices, or service providers for service information, pick-up dates and guidelines.

Visit www.loudoun.gov/recycle-trees for more information, including the street addresses of the tree drop-off locations, or call the Department of Construction and Waste Management at 703-777-0187.
