Boys Lacrosse: Stone Bridge Goalie Jesse Southward Commits to Play at Limestone College

(Jan. 18, 2012) - Stone Bridge High School senior goalie Jesse Southward has verbally committed to play men's lacrosse next year at NCAA Division II Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C.

Limestone is a Christian non-denominational liberal arts school with 3,500 students that was first established in 1845 as a women's college and became coeducational in the late 1960s. The Saints men's lacrosse team went a record-tying 15-2 last year and qualified for the NCAA tournament for a record 12th straight year.

Southward was a Cheers Sports Athlete of the Month in 2011 and was named Liberty District first team at goalie. He posted a season-high 20 saves against Chantilly and had 16 saves in a 8-6 win over Westfield and 16 saves in a 8-6 loss to Madison in the Liberty District semifinals. He finished his junior campaign with 155 saves in 15 matches.
