News: Park View Names Winter Sportsmanship Winners

(Jan. 20, 2012) - Park View High School named its Winter 2011-12 Sportsmanship Award winners and honored them before the boys basketball game on Jan. 13 with the girls basketball winners to be honored before their game on Jan. 25.

Honored were:
Boys Basketball – Brian McManus and Michael Huynh
Cheerleading – Diana Mejia and Barbara Addo
Girls Basketball – Kylie Himmelberger and Sarah Villalobos
Gymnastics – Charla Faulkner and Shannon Faulkner
Swimming – Rachael Villalobos, RC Castaneda and Jonathan Thurston
Wrestling – Tanner Williams, Henry Machado and Wilber Machado


Criteria for selection of sportsmanship winners
1) Accept and understand the seriousness of your responsibility
2) Show respect for opponents at all times
3) Respect the contest officials
4) Understand the rules of the game
5) Congratulate opponents after a contest
6) Accept victories or losses with equal self-control, poise and dignity
7) Accept responsibility for being a leader
8) Make sportsmanship a total team commitment
