The biggest news over the break is that the Briar Woods girls team had three high-profile swimmers -- sisters Alli and Kristen Haufler, and Caleigh Hensley drop from the team. The trio combined with since graduated Elise Guessford in 2010 to claim a state title in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays and were a major cog in the Falcons Dulles District dominance the past two seasons.

Hensley and Kristen Haufler are juniors and senior Alli Haufler has signed to swim next year the University of North Carolina.

Falcon coach Eric Bateman did not cite a reason for the mid-season departures.

  1. Not sure what happened.... but those three girls were an absolute joy to watch at the state swim meet the past two years. Good luck to the team and to Alli, Kristen, and Caleigh.
