Jan. 11 Meet at Tuscarora (complete results)
The Loudoun County High School gymnastics team scored it's highest score of the season posting a 135.1 defeating Tuscarora by almost 10 points.
The team was lead by senior Jess Drews who set a new school record by posting a 9.7. Her previous record was set on Jan. 12, 2011 of a 9.6. Jess was 1st in the all around, on vault, bars, beam and floor.
Sophomore Hannah Powell had her highest score of the season in the all around while placing 2nd. Hannah also was 1st on bars, 2nd on beam, floor and 4th on vault.
Congratulations to Annie Asai who qualified for regionals on vault and to Amanda Spencer who qualified on Floor.
Junior Leigh Philbrick competed on bars for the first time this season as she is recovering from an early season injury.
Freshman Victoria Miner placed 3rd in the all around, on beam, floor, and 7th on vault.
Contributing to the team score were Kathleen Huie, Bridget Gambogi, Karys Gettier.
The Raiders team will take a break for exams next week and will return to action in The Aloha Classic at Patriot HS in Gainesville.
Jan. 5 Meet at Briar Woods (complete results)
Osbourn Park won a 5-team meet at Briar Woods with a 131.175 score with Tuscarora beating out host Briar Woods for second, 122.600 to 120.625.
Taylor Rozzi of OP won the all around, just edging Potomac Falls' Abbey Tsao, 34.425 to 34.150. Rozzi won on the floor with a 9.400 and Tsao won on bars with a 8.250.
Tuscarora's Shannon Keye and Briar Woods' Darja Winkel tied for first on the beam at 8.65. The OP duo of Dee Knox and Allison Arp tied for first ont he vault with 8.900.
Jan. 4 Meet at Freedom (complete results)
Freedom High School captured a 7-team meet that feature five Cedar Run District schools with an impressive 140.225 score. Stone Bridge edged Battlefield for second, 132.200 to 132.000.
Arianna Robinson sparkled for the Eagles with a winning 38.825 all around score that included firsts in the vault (9.7), bars (9.5), beam (9.9) and floor (9.725).
