Football: Woodgrove Coach Jerry Gordon Steps Down

Purcellville (Jan. 17, 2012) - Jerry Gordon, Woodgrove’s first football coach, has resigned as of today according to Wolverine athletic director Rusty Lowery.

Gordon leaves with a 6-14 overall record at the school which opened in 2010.

Highlights of his tenure include, the school’s first win on Sept. 24, 2010, overtime 17-14 victory vs. East Rockingham County and a dramatic last minute 24-21 win against crosstown rival, Loudoun Valley, this past Nov. 4.

Gordon leaves Woodgrove with 22 years of high school and college coaching experience and one year of professional coaching experience.

Lowery said in a release: "Woodgrove thanks Coach Gordon for his hard work and dedication to the students, community and school. Woodgrove wishes Coach Gordon the best of luck with his future endeavors."

During the transition period, the off-season Woodgrove BFS will be operating as scheduled after school on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Thursday’s.
