| Lovettsville teen Maclain Huge is returning to the Junior World Championship Golf Tournament |
The international tournament, which began in 1968, is the largest junior golfing event in the world. Huge won the regional qualifier at Worthington Manor Golf Club in Urbanna MD, coming in 5 strokes under. A member of Loudoun Golf and Country Club, the 17-year old, 6-foot-4 golfer was president of this year’s junior class at Middleburg Academy and plays for the school team.
Huge just won the VISAA State Individual Golf Championship for the second time in three years and also has the distinguished honor of being named to the All-Met Team. Son of Patrick and Shawna Huge, Maclain is arguably one of the longest hitters in junior golf, and has a verbal commitment with Virginia Tech for the fall of 2012.
His coach, Adam Harrell, says of Huge, “He’s very determined and would someday like to be No. 1 in the world.”
The Junior World Championship is played at Torrey Pines South Course in San Diego, CA and takes place July 12, 2011.
