Region II: Dulles Shuts Out the Rest of the Region and Sends Seven On to States

(June 2, 2011) - The Dulles District had perhaps one of its greatest days in Region II history, going a perfect 7-for-7 in semifinal contests and setting up all-Dulles District regional finals in boys and girls soccer as well as softball. If Broad Run baseball can win its semifinal with Kettle Run Friday, then it will be a perfect 8-for-8 performance for the Dulles District and an unheard of shutout of the other three districts for state competition.

Advancing to the Region II finals and clinching state tournament bids Thursday were Broad Run and Tuscarora boys soccer; Broad Run and Woodgrove girls soccer; Briar Woods and Woodgrove softball; and Potomac Falls baseball.

Broad Run will host a Region II soccer finals doubleheader Friday starting at 6 p.m. Briar Woods will host Woodgrove in softball at 6 p.m. The baseball finals is delayed until Saturday as the Broad Run semifinal was pushed back a day due to Kettle Run's graduation Thursday.
