Boys Lacrosse: Dominion Senior Hayden Hesler to Play at Taylor University

(April 18, 2013) - Dominion High School senior Hayden Hesler will play lacrosse next year at Taylor University in Upland, Ind.

The Trojans are a competing member of the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA). Participating within the MCLA provides Taylor with the opportunity to face competition from schools of varying enrollment from around the country. Lacrosse at Taylor is a club sport that operates as a varsity program.

Girls Volleyball: Loudoun County 6-foot-3 Taylor Borup is First Freshman in School History to Become College Commit with Verbal to UNC Chapel Hill

Though just a freshman in the fall, the 6-3 Borup
was already playing way over the net.

Leesburg (Feb. 26, 2013) - Loudoun County High School 6-foot-3 freshman girls volleyball player Taylor Borup has accepted a verbal offer to play volleyball at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill starting in 2016.

Borup, a member of the Raiders AA state championship team in the fall, becomes the first freshman in Loudoun County's nearly 60-year history to have an offer extend and to accept in any sport, according to Raider athletic director Ken Wright.

The middle hitter/outside hitter  currently plays club volleyball for the NVVA-15 ICE. 

Wright: "A native of North Carolina, Taylor has always dreamed of being a Tar Heel, and quickly accepted the offer. We look forward to many more championships with Taylor and are proud she will be a Tar Heel."

Baseball: Loudoun County SR Ethan Carlyon to Play at D3 Denison University in Ohio

Leesburg (Jan. 24, 2013) - Loudoun County High School athletic director Ken Wright announced this week that Raider senior Ethan Carlyon has committed to Denison University to continue his baseball career.

Denison, located in Granville Ohio, is a member of the highly competitive North Coast Athletic Conference, and competes at the NCAA Division III level. Denison traces its baseball roots back to 1890.

Football: Woodgrove SR R.J. Warfel to Tee it Up for Virginia Tech

Purcellville (Jan. 21, 2013) - Woodgrove High School football coach Mike Skinner reports that Wolverine senior kicker R.J. Warfel has committed to play at Virginia Tech next season where the Hokies have offered him a kicking spot.

Warfel was named first team All-Dulles District as he helped Woodgrove to the school's first ever playoff appearance in 2012. Woodgrove now has 13 seniors committed to play in college next year, second most in the county behind Stone Bridge (16).
 

Football: Loudoun County SR Lineman Trey Taylor Commits to Alderson-Broaddus College

Leesburg (Jan. 18, 2013) - Loudoun County High School senior lineman Trey Taylor has committed to continue his football career at Alderson Broaddus College in Phillipi, WV next fall. The senior offensive guard and defensive tackle was a 3-year starter on the Raiders varsity team and was named 2nd team All Dulles District in 2013.

Football: Loudoun County SR Brad Szoka Commits to James Madison

Leesburg (Jan. 16, 2013) - Loudoun County High School senior wide receiver Brad Szoka committed this week to play football at James Madison University in the fall.

Szoka was first team All Region II at both WR and kick returner, and was named All State by Maxpreps.com. He led Loudoun County with 67 catches for 1071 yards (Yards ranked him 3rd in Washington Post rankings) and 15 touchdowns (3rd in Washington Post also).

Girls Basketball: Potomac Falls SR Patricia Mook to Play at Emory University Next Year

Sterling (Jan. 11, 2013) - Potomac Falls High School senior Patricia Mook has committed to continue her basketball career next year at NCAA Division III Emory University in Atlanta. The four-year letter winner will leave Potomac Falls High School with every rebounding and blocked shot record in the girls program, as well as the only player to record a triple double.

Panther coach Lynn Ewald: "Her hard work and dedication to the Potomac Falls Basketball Program has been beyond measure and will undoubtedly lead her to great success in college."

(Jan. 8, 2013) - Two Loudoun County High School senior standouts made their college choices last week with both Michael Anderson (Bard College) and Rachel Roberts (Shenandoah University) to continue playing at the NCAA Division III level.

Football: Rolin Sacks South Carolina, Swaps Commitment to SEC Rival Florida

(Dec. 10, 2012) - Briar Woods High School senior standout Matt Rolin, committed to the University of Carolina since May, has changed his commitment to one of the Gamecocks SEC Rivals, the University of Florida over the weekend.

Rolin, a 4-star linebacker, had nearly 30 offers before initially choosing USC, a school he has strong family ties to. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Rolin is recovering from a knee injury -- the surgery South Carolina recruiting sites report was performed by the Gamecocks team doctor -- that knocked him out of the VHSL playoffs in the regional quarterfinals.

Baseball: Loudoun County SR Josh Martin to Play at Virginia Wesleyan

(Nov. 13, 2012) - Loudoun County High School senior Josh Martin has committed to continue his baseball career at Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk Virginia.

Martin has spent much of his time at LCHS behind the plate as a catcher, but looks to play the infield (2nd base) for the Marlins. VWC is part of the ODAC Conference.

Baseball: Heritage's Matt Chapman Commits to Play at Washington College

 Leesburg (Nov. 5, 2012) - Heritage High School senior Matt Chapman has officially accepted an offer to attend and play baseball at NCAA Division III Washington College in Chestertown, Md.

Chapman submitted his early decision agreement to Washington College last week. He will receive an academic scholarship awarded by the Mohegan Tribe of Conn. He also was awarded the Washington College Scholarship award.

Chapman's recruiting is a success story as the outfielder sat out his entire sophomore year with an ACL replacement.

Chapman will join Woodgrove pitcher Tom Griffin at Washington College in 2013.

News: Two Freedom Seniors Make College Choices - Placekicker Cameron Nizialek to Tee it Up at Columbia and Kevin Dean to Play Baseball at Salisbury

(Oct. 18, 2012) - Two Freedom High School seniors have made their college choices with kicker Cameron Nizialek to tee it up in the Ivy League at Columbia University in New York City next year and baseball midfielder Kevin Dean to play at Salisbury University on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

Girls Volleyball: Heritage JR Sydney Busa Verbally Commits to Play at Elon University

Leesburg (Oct. 16, 2012) - Heritage High School junior Sydney Busa has verbally committed to play at NCAA Division I Elon University in North Carolina starting in 2014-15.

Busa was first team all-Dulles District last year as a sophomore as well as second team All-Region II. As a freshman she was all-Cedar Run District second team .

 

Softball: Loudoun County SR Kiley Jacobus to Play at Alderson-Broaddus College

(Oct. 11, 2012) - Loudoun County High School athletic director Ken Wright announced Wednesday that senior softball pitcher Kiley Jacobus has committed to Alderson-Broaddus College of the WVIAC.

The 3-time all district performer (second team 2010-2011, first team in 2012) selected the Battlers to continue her athletic and academic career next year. She has been a team captain each of the past two years and was named a Cheers Sports Athlete of the Month three times by Viva Loudoun.

Baseball: Woodgrove Senior Pitcher Tom Griffin to Throw for Washington College Next Year

Purcellville (Oct. 10, 2012) - Woodgrove High School senior Tom Griffin will pitch next year for NCAA Division III Washington College in Chestertown, Md on the Eastern Shore.

Griffin also plays for the Virginia Shamrocks travel baseball team where he was selected this summer to the National Amateur Baseball Federation High School Division "2012 World Series All Tournament Team"

Washington College, which traces its baseball roots back to 1871,  plays in the Centennial Conference and posted a school-record 28-12 mark in the spring. Travis Turgeon, a former NCAA Division I pitcher, was named head coach in June after the retirement of long-time coach Al Streelman.

Baseball; Stone Bridge Sophomore Pitcher J.B. Bukauskas Becomes First Verbal Commitment for Class of 2015

(Oct. 10, 2012) - Stone Bridge High School sophomore pitcher J.B. Bukauskas has become the first verbal commitment for the Class of 2012 with his early decision to play at the University of North Carolina starting in 2015-16 according to Virginia Preps.

Bukauskas was named the Liberty District Pitcher of the Year after a strong freshman campaign in which he went 7-1 with 76 strikeouts in 59 innings with a 1.99 ERA

College Choice Chart: Freedom's Kyle Wrighte and Heritage's Natalie Perussault Join Early Commitments for Class of 2014

College Choice Chart: Class of 2013 Grows to 44 Athletes

(Oct. 9, 2012) - The Viva Loudoun College Choice Chart for the Class of 2013 has quietly been growing over the last week with the addition of four soccer players (Corinne Grioux (Stone Bridge/William and Mary), Kylie Shutz (Potomac Falls/George Mason), Connor Smith (Gonzaga/Lehigh) and Miles Khalil Davis (Tuscarora/St. Louis) as well as one lacrosse player Morgan Miller (Woodgrove/Delaware). There are now 44 athletes on the Class of 2013 charts.

Girls Soccer: Stone Bridge's Corinne Giroux to Play Next Year at William and Mary

(Oct. 3, 2012) - Stone Bridge High School senior Corinne Giroux has verbally committed to play women's soccer next year at William & Mary. On the club level, Giroux is a defender for FC Virginia.

Giroux is the 14th Stone Bridge athlete on our Class of 2013 College Choice Chart and 17 soccer players have already verbally committed from the class.
