Baseball: Heritage SR Camden Abbey to Play at Shenandoah Next Year

(May 7, 2013) - Heritage High School senior Camden Abbey will play baseball next year at NCAA Division III Shenandoah University. The infielder/pitcher leads the Pride with 17 runs driven in this season.

Football: Five More Loudoun County Players Make College Choices

(Feb. 26, 2013) - Loudoun County High School athletic director Ken Wright announced Tuesday that five more senior football players had committed to various schools to continue their education and football careers. These commitments brings the total number of Raider football players moving on to seven. Those announcing Tuesday:

• Jake Lokey, QB: Shippensberg University.Loudoun C Jake is a three year starter at QB and has thrown for over 5600 yards in his career. He is the all time Raider leader in career passing yards, Career TD's thrown (58) and total completions (471). Jake was the Co-Offensive player of the year for the Raiders and signed is LOI this past Sunday.
• Isiah Jackson, TE: Ferrum College Isiah averaged over 21 yards per catch as a TE, and started at DE for the Raiders also. He had 41 tackles on defense and was awarded the Blue Chip Award for his team contributions this year.
• Tyler Pratt, LB, Stevenson College Tyler started at OLB and FB this year for the Raiders and overaged 8.9 yards per carry, while also being asked to block on almost every play. He also recorded 31 tackles this year.
• Nick Anthony, ILB, Bridgewater College Nick was a first team All Dulles District and a first team All Region at linebacker for the Raiders. He led the team in tackles with 95 and was the Co-Defensive player of the year for LCHS.
• Deron Davis, DE/OLB, Shenandoah College Deron was the winner of the "Unsung Hero" award for the Raiders, for his play at DE this year. He recorded 51 tackles and 5 QB sacks and was named 2nd team all District this past season.
  

Football: Reed All About It! Heritage Hires Millbrook Coach Reed Prosser to Take Over Pride Program

Leesburg (Jan. 23, 2013) - Heritage High School -- the first of three Loudoun schools to name their new varsity football coach this offseason -- announced Tuesday evening that Millbrook High School coach Reed Prosser is making the move from Winchester to take the reigns of the Pride's program.

Prosser comes from Millbrook where he started in 2006 and led the football team to its first winning season in 2007. His Pioneer teams made five playoff appearances in the last six years, including a Region II finals appearance in 2007.

In 2010, Millbrook team won the Northwestern District championship and Prosser also earned Northwestern District and Winchester Star Coach of the Year honors. Prosser finished with a record of 40-36 at Millbrook and has an overall record of 60-48 at Broadway and Millbrook high schools including a region championship appearances with the Gobblers in 2004.

Before coaching at Broadway from 2003-05 he was the defensive coordinator at Shenandoah University where he coached from 1999-2002. Prior to that he was a JV coach and assistant varsity coach at Handley High School.

(Jan. 8, 2013) - Two Loudoun County High School senior standouts made their college choices last week with both Michael Anderson (Bard College) and Rachel Roberts (Shenandoah University) to continue playing at the NCAA Division III level.

Baseball: Woodgrove Grad Scott Van Steelant to Play at Shenandoah University

Purcellville (Aug. 16, 2012) - Woodgrove High School recent grad Scott Van Steelant will continue his academic and baseball career at NCAA Division III powerhouse Shenandoah University.

Van Stelant, a first team all region first baseman, will compete for playing time at Shenandoah at both first base and on the pitching mound.

Shenandoah University, coached by Kevin Anderson, has been to the D3 College World Series twice in the last four years. The SU preseason roster also includes Loudoun Valley grad Andrew Creamer (JR 1B), Heritage grad Andre Zarobila (JR LHP), and home schooled incoming freshman Billy Arens from Purcellville.

Football: Freedom's Burns Joins Fuller at Shenandoah

South Riding (May 10, 2012) - Freedom High School senior Derek Burns will join his teammate Garrison Fuller by committing to play football at Shenandoah University in Winchester next fall.
Burns was a two-year letterman for the Eagles.

Burns played tailback, wide receiver, defensive back and kick returner while with the Eagles. Burns was the leading rusher and scorer for the Eagles the last two seasons. Burns is also an all-state member of the Freedom track team as a sprinter.

Football: Derek Burns Commitment to Shenandoah Makes Five Eagles to Play Football at Next Level

(May 4, 2012) - Freedom High School now has five football players committed to play next year as Derek Burns will join his teammate, Garrison Fuller, at NCAA Division III Shenandoah University next year.

Earlier this week Chris and Zach Freda committed to Frostburg State and last month Chris Cook committed to Christopher Newport.

Freedom now has more athletes committed to play in college next year than any other high school in Loudoun with 21 total, just ahead of Stone Bridge (20), Broad Run (19), Woodgrove (18) and Briar Woods (17).

(March 31, 2012) - Freedom High School announced Friday that senior football players Chris Cook and Garrison Fuller will be playing at the college level next year with Cook committed to Christopher Newport University in Newport News and Fuller committed to play football at Shenandoah University in Winchester.
