Football: Reed All About It! Heritage Hires Millbrook Coach Reed Prosser to Take Over Pride Program

Leesburg (Jan. 23, 2013) - Heritage High School -- the first of three Loudoun schools to name their new varsity football coach this offseason -- announced Tuesday evening that Millbrook High School coach Reed Prosser is making the move from Winchester to take the reigns of the Pride's program.

Prosser comes from Millbrook where he started in 2006 and led the football team to its first winning season in 2007. His Pioneer teams made five playoff appearances in the last six years, including a Region II finals appearance in 2007.

In 2010, Millbrook team won the Northwestern District championship and Prosser also earned Northwestern District and Winchester Star Coach of the Year honors. Prosser finished with a record of 40-36 at Millbrook and has an overall record of 60-48 at Broadway and Millbrook high schools including a region championship appearances with the Gobblers in 2004.

Before coaching at Broadway from 2003-05 he was the defensive coordinator at Shenandoah University where he coached from 1999-2002. Prior to that he was a JV coach and assistant varsity coach at Handley High School.


During his tenure at Millbrook, Reed produced four all state players and helped place over 30 collegiate athletes at the BCS, FCS, Division II and III levels. Prosser, an English teacher, also developed the Book Blitz reading program for MHS athletes and local elementary schools and his teams worked with various outreach programs, including Habitat for Humanity and the Jubilee Kitchen. He was named National Honor Society Teacher of the Year in 2010.

“It has been an honor and a pleasure to coach at Millbrook High School,” Prosser said. “It is truly a special place. We are proud of our accomplishments both on and off the field. We are particularly proud of how much the program and the school has grown in the last seven years. The relationships with the students, my staff, the faculty and the community will hold a special place in my heart. I’m thankful and humbled to have had the opportunity to share the experience with so many people.”

Prosser is a graduate of Handley High School in Winchester where he played quarterback and then he played at William and Mary from 1991 to 1995 where he was a 3-year letterman and 2-year starter at offensive tackle.

Our goal is to become champions in the class room and on the gridiron; yet more importantly, make our athletes better people and allow them avenues to achieve success throughout their lives.”
