Loudoun County: Graham to Run Track at Radford; Pratt Changes Football Choice to Shepherd

(May 9, 2013) - Loudoun County High School senior track standout Steven Graham will run next year at Radford University.

Graham is the two-time reigning VHSL AA state champion in the 400 meters, having run a  49.01 in the 2012 state meet and 49.55 in 2011. He also ran on the Raiders 4x400 relay team that finished third last season and was a member of the Raiders state title 4x800 relay team in 2011.

Football: Five More Loudoun County Players Make College Choices

(Feb. 26, 2013) - Loudoun County High School athletic director Ken Wright announced Tuesday that five more senior football players had committed to various schools to continue their education and football careers. These commitments brings the total number of Raider football players moving on to seven. Those announcing Tuesday:

• Jake Lokey, QB: Shippensberg University.Loudoun C Jake is a three year starter at QB and has thrown for over 5600 yards in his career. He is the all time Raider leader in career passing yards, Career TD's thrown (58) and total completions (471). Jake was the Co-Offensive player of the year for the Raiders and signed is LOI this past Sunday.
• Isiah Jackson, TE: Ferrum College Isiah averaged over 21 yards per catch as a TE, and started at DE for the Raiders also. He had 41 tackles on defense and was awarded the Blue Chip Award for his team contributions this year.
• Tyler Pratt, LB, Stevenson College Tyler started at OLB and FB this year for the Raiders and overaged 8.9 yards per carry, while also being asked to block on almost every play. He also recorded 31 tackles this year.
• Nick Anthony, ILB, Bridgewater College Nick was a first team All Dulles District and a first team All Region at linebacker for the Raiders. He led the team in tackles with 95 and was the Co-Defensive player of the year for LCHS.
• Deron Davis, DE/OLB, Shenandoah College Deron was the winner of the "Unsung Hero" award for the Raiders, for his play at DE this year. He recorded 51 tackles and 5 QB sacks and was named 2nd team all District this past season.
  

Briar Woods: Three More Falcons to College Level - Barta (Football/William and Mary), Basso (Women's Soccer/Shippensburg) and Haufler (Swim/Villanova)

(Feb. 18, 2013) - Briar Woods High School has had three more senior athletes make their college playing choices with Kristin Haufler signing her National Letter of Intent to swim at NCAA Division I Villanova, Mike Barta accepting a preferred walk on status with the William and Mary football program and Leah Basso signed her National Letter of Intent to play women's soccer at Shippensburg University. • Senior safety Mike Barta has accepted a preferred walk on at William and Mary. Barta has been instrumental in the Falcons three straight state championship runs. He is a two-year starter at safety and coach Charlie Pierce says that Barta "did an outstanding job in our secondary. Mike was outstanding in our coverage checks, a sure tackler and a ball hawk. Mike is an outstanding student and a tremendous worker and knows what it takes to win."    
  
• Leah Basso, signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division 2 women’s soccer at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Leah is a senior at Briar Woods and will attend Ship and play soccer this fall. 

• Kristin Haufler has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim for Villanova University starting this fall.
