Football: Freedom's Burns Joins Fuller at Shenandoah

South Riding (May 10, 2012) - Freedom High School senior Derek Burns will join his teammate Garrison Fuller by committing to play football at Shenandoah University in Winchester next fall.
Burns was a two-year letterman for the Eagles.

Burns played tailback, wide receiver, defensive back and kick returner while with the Eagles. Burns was the leading rusher and scorer for the Eagles the last two seasons. Burns is also an all-state member of the Freedom track team as a sprinter.


The Shenandoah Hornets will be Division III members of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference next year after being members of the USA South Atlantic Conference for the previous 11 years. The Hornets posted a 6-4 record in 2011 under head coach Paul Barnes.

Burns and Fuller will have a chance to compete with fellow classmate Chris Cook when Shenandoah hosts Christopher Newport September 15th in Winchester.
