Baseball: Potomac Falls Looks to Add Another Title Tonight in Dulles Finals

(May 24, 2012) - The Potomac Falls High School baseball team is shooting for yet another title tonight as the Panthers host Loudoun Valley at 7 p.m. in the Dulles District championship game. Prior to the finals, Heritage and Woodgrove meet in the consolation game at 4 p.m.

The Panthers started the year at 2-2 and have since gone on a 18-game winning streak to claim the Dulles District regular-season title and a regional top spot.


Dulles Semifinal: Potomac Falls 8, Heritage 1
Panthers report: Potomac Falls and Heritage began the game with a scoreless first inning. Jackson Rogers had a quick first inning on the mound for the Panthers. Heritage’s Zach Turner had an equally effective inning on the mound as he got three quick outs.

In the top of the 2nd inning Heritage was able to get onto the score board first. Brandall Peters hits a triple to the left center gap to make the score 1-0 in favor of Heritage. The Panthers were able to hold Peters at third base the rest of the inning to hold the Pride to just one run.

Turner was able to keep the Panther hitters off balance at the plate for his next two innings of work.

Potomac Falls got onto the score board in the 4th inning. Tyler Rice earned a walked and was able to advance from 1st to 3rd on a wild pitch. Rice them promptly scored on a ball in the dirt that kicked away from the catcher.

In the 6th inning the Panthers earned two straight walks at the plate. With runners at 1st in 3rd Tyler Caldwell drove a pitch over the left fielders head for a 2 RBI double. Caldwell was then plated by a Rogers double. The Panthers scored 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth and had a 1-2-3 inning on defense in the top of the seventh to earn the 8-1 victory.

Pride report: Heritage held the Panther bats quiet until the 6th inning in a tight 1-1 ballgame.
