Boys Lacrosse: Can't Get Any Closer! Briar Woods Beats Loudoun Valley in OT; Dominion Edges Woodgrove by a Goal to Advance to Dulles Finals

(May 15, 2012) - The Dulles District boys lacrosse finals comes down once again to a Briar Woods vs. Dominion showdown with the two teams scheduled to meet at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Briar Woods High School but it could have easily been a Woodgrove vs. Loudoun Valley title game.

The Wolverines and Vikings, however, will renew their intense rivalry in the 6 p.m. consolation final Wednesday at Briar Woods as Briar Woods defeated Loudoun Valley, 11-10, Monday in overtime and Dominion edged Woodgrove, 9-8. All four teams advance to the Region II tournament.


In the Cedar Run District boys finals, Battlefield beat Broad Run, 14-2.

The Falcons and Titans will tangle once again in the Dulles District tournament and for the second straight season in the finals as top seed Briar Woods (15-1) survived upset-minder Loudoun Valley (10-5).

In 2011, Briar Woods claimed the tournament title with a 10-8 win over Dominion. Two years ago, Dominion knocked off Briar Woods, 12-5, on the way to a title.

Woodgrove got four goals from Denis Radcliffe but came up one shy of advancing to the tournament finals.
