Boys Tennis: Loudoun County Turnaround - From 1 Win in 2010 to Champions in 2012

Leesburg (May 16, 2012) - The Loudoun County High School boys tennis team went from just one win in 2010 to a .500 team midway through the 2011 season that caught fire and finished with six straight wins to make the playoffs. In 2012 it has been all winning for County as the Raiders have completed the turnaround with an 18-0 record heading into Region II play.

To celebrate the Dulles District regular-season and tournament titles, the Raiders raised title banners at their school recently.

Today the Raiders top singles player, sophomore Bill Bouweiri played in the Dulles singles tournament and tomorrow Bouweiri and doubles partner junior Andrew Flynn are in the doubles tournament.


County is a young team with just one senior among the starting six singles players -- Danny Schafer at No. 6 who is unbeaten on the season and actually the lone senior on the team. Freshman Jack McLister is unbeaten at the No. 2 spot and sophomore David Houman has not been beaten at No. 5.

McLister and another freshman, Brad Hindsberger, combine for a young talented tandem at No. 2 doubles.

"They are a great bunch of guys, hard working and fun to coach," said Loudoun County coach Randy Hanger.
