(May 15, 2012) - The Stone Bridge High School girls soccer team advanced to the Liberty District semifinals with a 5-1 win over Marshall Monday night at Fairfax High School. The Bulldogs (11-1-2) will now host Madison (7-4-3), a 2-1 winner over Jefferson Monday, on Wednesday night at 5 p.m. at Fairfax.
The second semifinal features McLean (9-5-0) vs. Langley (10-2-2). The Highlanders edged Fairfax 1-0 Monday while Langley shut down South Lakes, 4-0. All four teams will advance to Regionals.
The Bulldogs gave up a goal early in the game Monday , but equalized the game with a free kick taken by Corinne Giroux. Ashley Herndon, Murielle Tiernan (2), and Imani Ervins also scored for the Bulldogs with assists coming from Carson Cyphers, Herndon (2), and Megan Windland.
Stone Bridge goalkeeper Natalie Grundler had three saves in the game.
