(May 23, 2012) - The Woodgrove High School girls tennis team defeated Skyline, 5-1, to advance to today's Region II semifinals. The Wolverines will host Western Albemarle, a 5-1 winner over Kettle Run.
Dominion girls saw their season end with a 5-2 loss at Handley.
In the AAA Northwest Region tournament, Broad Run's Mel Waterman and Clara Sartor defeated a doubles team from Patrick Henry-Roanoke, 6-3, 6-3, to advance to today's regional semifinals in Charlottesville. Wateman became the first Spartan to ever advance to the regional semifinals in singles with a win in the quarterfinals over Gar-Field's top player but she late fell in the semifinals match.
