Football: Broad Run SO Chuck Davis Picks Up 1st Offer from UNC; Woodgrove's Jackson Adds Hampton Offer

(March 12, 2013) - VirginiaPreps.com is reporting that Broad Run High School sophomore wide receiver/defensive back Chuck Davis has received his first college scholarship offer from the University of North Carolina. In other recruiting news, Woodgrove coach Mike Skinner reports that his junior defensive end/outside linebacker J.J. Jackson has picked up another offer, this time from Hampton University.

Girls Volleyball: Loudoun County 6-foot-3 Taylor Borup is First Freshman in School History to Become College Commit with Verbal to UNC Chapel Hill

Though just a freshman in the fall, the 6-3 Borup
was already playing way over the net.

Leesburg (Feb. 26, 2013) - Loudoun County High School 6-foot-3 freshman girls volleyball player Taylor Borup has accepted a verbal offer to play volleyball at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill starting in 2016.

Borup, a member of the Raiders AA state championship team in the fall, becomes the first freshman in Loudoun County's nearly 60-year history to have an offer extend and to accept in any sport, according to Raider athletic director Ken Wright.

The middle hitter/outside hitter  currently plays club volleyball for the NVVA-15 ICE. 

Wright: "A native of North Carolina, Taylor has always dreamed of being a Tar Heel, and quickly accepted the offer. We look forward to many more championships with Taylor and are proud she will be a Tar Heel."

Football: Briar Woods JR McSorley Gets 3 More Offers in 24 Hours! SO Polk Gets 1st College Offer

(Feb. 6, 2013) - Briar Woods High School 3-year run on top of the Virginia High School League's Division 4 has resulted in a plethora of coverage and exposure for the Falcon players and colleges are taking notice as junior quarterback Trace McSorley -- 42-3 as a starter! -- picked up three more college scholarship offers in the last 24 hours according to coach Charlie Pierce.

McSorley, already with offers from UMass and Boston College, has now been offered by Virginia Tech,  North Carolina and UNC-Charlotte. In addition, Briar Woods sophomore all-purpose back/defensive back Brandon Polk picked up his first offer, also from Virginia Tech.

Later today, Briar Woods will celebrate the signings of seniors Matt Rolin (Florida) and Cam Serigne (Wake Forest).

Baseball; Stone Bridge Sophomore Pitcher J.B. Bukauskas Becomes First Verbal Commitment for Class of 2015

(Oct. 10, 2012) - Stone Bridge High School sophomore pitcher J.B. Bukauskas has become the first verbal commitment for the Class of 2012 with his early decision to play at the University of North Carolina starting in 2015-16 according to Virginia Preps.

Bukauskas was named the Liberty District Pitcher of the Year after a strong freshman campaign in which he went 7-1 with 76 strikeouts in 59 innings with a 1.99 ERA

News: Briar Woods Celebrates 2 Signings - Macy Jones to Play Softball at Penn State; Alli Haufler to Swim at UNC

(Nov. 21, 2011) - Briar Woods High School celebrated last week the college signing of two talented seniors that have helped the Falcons win state titles. Pitcher Macy Jones, who led the Falcons to a AA state title in the spring, has signed to play for NCAA Division I Penn State next year, and Alli Haufler, who has helped the Falcons win 200 medley and 400 free state titles, will swim next year at NCAA Division I North Carolina.

Swim: Briar Woods Captain Alli Haufler Commits to North Carolina at Chapel Hill

(Nov. 1, 2011) - Briar Woods High School senior Alli Haufler, one of three Falcon captains last year for the swim team, will dive into the pool next year in the ACC for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Haufler has had a record-setting three years in the pool for the Falcons, helping Briar Woods to state titles in the 200 medley and 400 free relays her sophomore year. She finished second in the 100 fly and seventh in the 200 free that season. The team placed fourth.

Last year, Haufler and teammates helped Briar Woods to a third place team finish at the AA state meet with Falcon relay teams finish runner-up in the 400 free and third in the 200 medley. Individually, Haufler was second in the 100 fly for the second straight year and third in the 200 free.

The Briar Woods girls have dominated Dulles District swim the past two years, taking the district meet in 2011, and going undefeated in 2010 with the district meet snowed out. As a freshman, Haufler helped Briar Woods to a runner-up finish at the district meet.
