(Aug. 8,  2012) - Broad Run High School boys basketball coach John Costello said Tuesday that his high-scoring senior Nigel Johnson has officially informed him of his transfer to private power Riverdale Baptist in Maryland.

"I was informed by Nigel and his parents that he will be leaving Broad Run to play a national schedule his senior year in a very competitive league, in order to better prepare him for play at the college level," said Costello. "Although he will be greatly missed, I understand and respect their decision. As a coach, there is nothing more important to me than the relationship with my players. Nigel is a terrific kid from a wonderful family."

Johnson, who averaged nearly 30 points a game including an all-time Loudoun single-game record 55 points against Osbourn, already holds scholarship offers from George Washington, American, Bucknell, Cornell, Holy Cross, Northeastern, William and Mary and UNC-Greensboro.

(Aug. 3, 2012) - Broad Run High School star Nigel Johnson has likely transferred for his senior season to private basketball powerhouse Riverdale Baptist in Maryland according to reports by DMV Elite and the Gazette newspapers. Johnson averaged nearly 30 points a game last season for the Spartans as a junior including a Loudoun record 55 points against Osbourn.

While Broad Run coach John Costello said this week he had heard the rumors of Johnson's transfer but had yet to receive official notification of the move.

Johnson already holds scholarship offers from George Washington, American, Bucknell, Cornell, Holy Cross, Northeastern, William and Mary and UNC-Greensboro.

Ashburn (May 15, 2012) - Broad Run High School junior Nigel Johnson received two more basketball scholarship offers last week with CAA schools Northeastern University and the College of William and Mary offering the high-scoring guard.

Johnson now holds offers from Bucknell, American, Holy Cross, Cornell, George Washington, Northeastern, and William and Mary. During his junior year at Broad Run, Johnson led DC, Maryland, and Virginia scorers with 29.5 points per game. He also set a AAA record with 211 assists on the season.

Ashburn (April 17, 2012) - On Monday, Broad Run High School junior guard Nigel Johnson completed an individual workout with coaches from American, Cornell, George Washington, Lehigh and Lafayette in attendance. Following the workout, head coach Bill Courtney offered Johnson a roster spot on the Cornell University Big Red squad.

This makes four offers for the 2013 guard who lead the Metro area in scoring as a junior (29.5 ppg) and set a Virginia AAA record for assists (211). Johnson already holds offers from Bucknell, Holy Cross, and American University.

(Feb. 16, 2012) - The honors keep on coming for Broad Run High School junior Nigel Johnson as he has been named by ESPNHS as the boys basketball Player of the Week for the East Region. Johnson earned it for a 3-game performance that netted 110 points including an all-time Loudoun record of 55 in a 109-014 overtime loss to Osbourn in the Cedar Run District semifinals.

(Feb. 15, 2012) - Broad Run High School junior Nigel Johnson has been named the Cedar Run District boys basketball Player of the Year in a vote of the district's coaches.

Johnson is second in the Washington D.C. area in scoring according to the Washington Post, averaging 29.3 points per game. Johnson, who scored a Loudoun all-time record of 55 points last week in a 109-104 overtime loss to Osbourn, has already scored 703 points on the season with at least one game left. He hasn't scored less than 19 in a contest this year and scored 30+ 10 times.

Boys Basketball: Broad Run Advances to Northwest Region Tournament, Johnson Scores 31 on Heels of 3rd Scholarship Offer

(Feb. 10, 2012) - Broad Run High School junior Nigel Johnson, who picked up his third scholarship offer when Holy Cross offered him Thursday afternoon, scored 31 points Friday to lead the Spartans to a 65-63 win over Battlefield in the Cedar Run District consolation game.

The win advances the Spartans to next week's Northwest Region tournament.

Johnson already had scholarship offers from Bucknell University and American University. And more could be on the way as assistant coaches from James Madison University and Longwood University were in attendance Friday evening to watch Johnson with his 10th 30+ performance of the year.

(Feb. 8, 2012) - Broad Run High School junior guard Nigel Johnson picked up his second basketball scholarship offer on Wednesday night following his career high 55-point scoring performance in a 109-105 overtime Cedar Run District semifinal loss at Osbourn High School. Division I, American University offered Johnson the scholarship following the game.

American University is located in Washington, D.C., and is a member of the Patriot League. As of tonight they are in 2nd place in the Patriot League standings.

Bucknell University, in Lewisburg, PA, is currently undefeated and in first place in the Patriot League; their coaching staff offered Johnson a scholarship following his 29-point, 10 assist, 9 rebound performance in a win at Briar Woods over the Christmas holidays.

Several more Division I schools have expressed an interest in Johnson including George Washington University, Holy Cross, Fairfield, Mount Saint Mary's, Loyola, and James Madison.

(Mar. 29, 2011) - The Potomac Falls High School historic back-to-back boys basketball state titles has reaped benefits as Panther senior Lukas Mihailovich has been named the Virginia High School Coaches Association Division 4 Player of the Year and Panther coach Jeff Hawes picked up his second straight Coach of the Year honor.

(Feb. 28, 2011) - Back-to-back champion Potomac Falls High School swept the Region II boys basketball Division 4 top honors with senior Lukas Mihailovich the Player of the Year and Jeff Hawes named Coach of the Year.

Potomac Falls junior Greg Graves and Broad Run sophomore Nigel Johnson was named first team and a pair of local juniors -- Briar Woods' Myles Tate and Woodgrove's Brad Gilson -- were named second team.
