Baseball: Woodgrove Senior Pitcher Tom Griffin to Throw for Washington College Next Year

Purcellville (Oct. 10, 2012) - Woodgrove High School senior Tom Griffin will pitch next year for NCAA Division III Washington College in Chestertown, Md on the Eastern Shore.

Griffin also plays for the Virginia Shamrocks travel baseball team where he was selected this summer to the National Amateur Baseball Federation High School Division "2012 World Series All Tournament Team"

Washington College, which traces its baseball roots back to 1871,  plays in the Centennial Conference and posted a school-record 28-12 mark in the spring. Travis Turgeon, a former NCAA Division I pitcher, was named head coach in June after the retirement of long-time coach Al Streelman.

Griffin plan on studying economics and business at Washington which is a nationally-recognized liberal arts college. Washington College is the 10th oldest college in the United States and the first college chartered after the American independence in 1782.
