News: Loudoun County Sheriff's Advise Residents of Road Closures

(Oct. 29, 20212) - the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the following roadways closed or restricted to access due to flooding, or downed trees/power lines:
• Route 619 East at Trappe Road (Tree Down)
• Route 50/Llangollen Road (Tree Down)
• Sycolin Road/Shreve Mill Road (Flooded)
• Rt. 611/Telegraph Springs Road closed from Purcellville Town Line to Allder School Road. (Power Lines Down)
• Edwards Ferry Road (Town of Leesburg)/River Creek Parkway (Flooded)


Virginia State Police reports that Route 15 at Goose Creek Bridge will likely close in the near future due to rising water. Northbound travelers should prepare to be diverted onto Route 50 and southbound traffic should be prepared to be diverted onto Route 7 and Route 621).

Heavy rains are expected to bring flooding to our region and many roadways, especially in low-lying areas, will become impassable. Motorists are reminded to never walk or drive through a flooded area. Stay away from flooded areas and seek higher ground if you are in an area experiencing flooding. It takes only six inches of fast-moving flood water to knock over an adult and two feet to move a vehicle. Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown!
