(Oct. 30, 2012) - The Cedar Run District girls volleyball tournament is set with No. 1 seed Broad Run and No. 2 seed Freedom hosting unique doubleheaders on Wednesday as the two Loudoun schools will host quarterfinal matches at 5 p.m. and then play the winners of those matches just 30 minutes later in the semifinals.
At Freedom, Battlefield and Stonewall Jackson will meet first with the winner playing Freedom later that night and at Broad Run, Osbourn and Patriot will meet with the winner taking on the Spartans.
Broad Run is already guaranteed one of three regional slots thanks to the Spartans regular-season title. The winner of the semifinal at Freedom will earn a regional spot Wednesday. If Broad Run should advance to the finals on Thursday, the Spartans will host with a consolation final set for 5 p.m. to determine the third an final team advancing to regionals and the finals then at 7 p.m.
If Broad Run falls on Wednesday, then the finals on Thursday will be a the highest remaining seed with no consolation match as both teams advancing to the finals in that scenario will clinch Northwest Region tournament bids. The Northwest Region tournament starts on Saturday.
