News: Aldie Man Charged with Soliciting Middle School Children Via Facebook

(Oct. 31, 2012) - A 43-year-old Aldie, Virginia man was charged October 24th with five counts of use of a computer to solicit a child less than 15-years-old.

In October, a member of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) School Resource Officer Unit assigned to Lunsford Middle School was approached by school personnel regarding suspicious activity on a student's Facebook account.


The student accepted a "friend request"€ from what she believed was a fellow student at the middle school. The person represented themselves as "Kyle Kirts". During conversation, "Kyle Kirts" solicited sexual activity from the child. Parents alerted the school staff to the incident and the staff, in turn, alerted the LCSO.

After a thorough investigation, members of the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Unit determined that the account was fictitious. Robert B. Rennie, Jr., was identified as the creator and sole user of the account.

The investigation determined that the suspect portrayed himself as a student at Lunsford Middle School and had primarily young girls on his "friend" list. During chats, the person known as "Kyle Kirts"  would quickly ask females to move to a Skype account for sexual reasons. During the course of the investigation, several more victims were identified.

The suspect made contact with children primarily from Lunsford Middle School and Mercer Middle School. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.

Rennie remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.
