(Oct. 12, 2012) - The Dulles District regular season cross country race came down to Wednesday's tri-meet between Tuscarora, Potomac Falls and Dominion at Algonkian Park and the Tuscarora girls finished an unbeaten dual meet season by claiming the top five spots. On the boys side perennial power Potomac Falls nipped Tuscarora to claim the regular season title.
The five scoring girls for the Huskies included Kelly Rielly (FR), Anna Wasko (SO), Natalie Rosas (JR), Colleen Heberle (JR) and Ray Al-Nsour (FR). The Husky boys were led by John Dooney (JR), Logan Feierbach (SR) and Sam Brazer (JR).
The Panther boys out-scored the Huskies, 27-32, thanks to the pack running of Jordan Ferbrache (SR), Sai Kurra (SR), Matt Celsa (JR), John Deker (SO) and Kevin Ryan (JR).
"We don't have maybe that frontrunner like some teams but we have a nice pack," said Panther coach Dolph Null. "In cross country you are only as good as your weakest link.
Potomac Falls showed its pack power last weekend at the Quad State at Woodgrove as the Panthers pushed power Osbourn Park with the Potomac Falls 1 thru 6 runners all finishing within 26 seconds of each other.
The district meet is set for Oct. 18 at Oatlands and the Region II meet will also be at Oatlands on Nov. 1.
Potomac Falls boys are looking to regain the Dulles District meet crown after Loudoun County snapped their 10-year run from 2001 to 2010 last season. Tuscarora, in its third year, improved in 2011 from 8th to 4th.
On the girls side, Tuscarora was also 4th last season with Potomac Falls taking its 4th crown in five years.
